The other thing you have to be careful about if you sign up is some fake girls writing you saying she saw your ad, you looked good, etc., and here’s a link to her webpage with some pics. The page has 6 or 7 pics of this gorgeous girl, and then at the bottom it’ll say “I have some more, naughtier pics, but Geocities says I have to use Adultcheck to let you see them!” Basically, they try to get you to pay to see her pics.
Regarding the third picture in the OP’s link; she smokes.
In my book that automatically make her plumber’s butt ugly.
I do see gorgeous women on match.com, but the majority are out of my league. They’re often looking for a guy who is at least 6’2" tall, or with a six digit income. Definitely not ringers; otherwise, they’d be looking for anyone.
Personally, I don’t write to women with photos that appear to have come from a modelling portfolio. They are probably getting swamped in e-mail, and I don’t want to be a part of that stampede. I consider myself a 6 appearance-wise, and I find myself to be drawn to women that are probably would rate between a 5 and 7 on the metric scale of superficiality.
Look out for Yahoo personals that feature gorgeous women who will date anybody – fat, thin, rich, poor, young, old, anybody – using a fairly generic profile that may otherwise hint at sexual promiscuity Send that uberbabe an e-mail, and you’ll get the gift of porn spam.
Is that the voice of experience, elmwood?
She dresses like most people that go to clubs etc. over here. She smokes and she’s got a drink in her hand. She’s making a silly pose to the camera. So fucking what ?
I don’t see anything wrong with the girl in the 3rd pic, apart from the fact it’s a real pic and not a professional one.
What a lot of these personals sites have are ads that aren’t ads - you click to email the person, or click to visit their profile, and you’re taken to a porn site. That happens a lot.
C’mon … despite my tendancy to type typos, do you think I’m dumb enough to write a supermodel on Yahoo! who is looking to deflower chubby, bearded Linux administrator types? :wally
As for the other observations … well … uhh …
There’s certainly a lot of completely fake, spam, adverts showing attractive women.
There’s a fair few women who do it just as a laugh, or as a reassurance thing.
But it seems quite possible there’re some people who get fed up being judged by good looks. I wish I had this problem, but I can imagine that if everyone in a club hits on you it does get tiring, and you might want to meet people to talk to first. Doesn’t seem likely in this case, of course
Isn’t the same true for meeting people outside of online dating? I really hate the assumption that online dating is for freaks or something. What’s so different about people meeting in a cafe and hitting it off and people meeting online, exchanging a few e-mails and getting to know each other before meeting and going out? Online dating is full of fakes, ads, phonys and cheezy blind dates…, and wouldn’t you know it, so is “real life” dating!
That only holds true for blind dates in face-to-face life, though. If you date someone you’ve already met, you know what they look like. If I see a picture of a hot babe online, I don’t expect to get Roseanne Barr.
