I’ve been told that in some cultures people eat the placenta after a babies born:eek:. Is this a UL or should I start puking now?
A friend of mine tried this, but she was unable to eat it.
She is a vegetarian though, that might have added an extra hurdle.
About four years ago a TV presenter Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall in the UK showed a placenta party, where it was fried and shared around with friends. Alot of people complained about the show as I remember

Ewww, I’d heard of mothers eating it for health reasons (allegedly it helps to prevent post-natal depression and so on), but I’d never heard of people sharing it around at a party.
I personally knew a man who did this. He delivered all of his children (with some help from the wife) in his little cabin. He then proceeded to fry up the placenta and eat it.
Sadly, this same man died 2 years ago, I think he was about 70 years old at the time. His canoe capsized on the Battenkill River and he died trying to retrieve it. Personally I think he didn’t give a shit about the canoe, he was more than likely trying to save the dime bag he always had hidden in it.
