Do so... Donut... Do so...

Ever have donuts at work? Occasionally, my BF will come up to my office and we’ll have a snack in the stockroom.

I always plan to have lots of donuts on holiday, but it seldom works out that way, as I do not save enough energy. Learn from my mistake and always make time for donuts…

Sorry to bring this back up so suddenly, but if there is one thing that really fumes me, it’s when I am really looking forward to some Donuts, and the bakery is closed for regular maintenance! Darn I hate that!

[sub]is that why some people go to more than just one bakery?[/sub]

[sub]am I being selfish?[/sub]

Well, some of us go to bakeries that don’t need to clean out the ovens every month.

…And some bakeries are open for business, even during the maintenance. It’s a good customer that patronizes the bakery during maintenance.

Ginger and jayjay, you both bring up good points. But I guess I’ve been in the technology business to long - we know never to try getting data from servers that are down for planned maintenance, and I guess I applied this concept to bakeries and donuts.

I have gone to the bakery during the maintenance cycle before (I know it’s a different type than the one you go to jayjay, but I just haven’t wanted to try that type of bakery, I guess I should consider it, but I haven’t yet), and I have received mixed responces - sometimes the donuts are available, and I am very happy to have them; other times, the bakery is not even open for coffee or a quick chat with the baker. So I just have to wait.

But today they were open for business!!

mmmmm… Bear Claws are good.

Reading Room Index to the Comic Art Collection,

Eating donuts alone is a mixture of satisfaction and sadness. Maybe I started eating alone because I was lonely, or more likely I am unable to find others willing to eat donuts as frequently as I do. So despite the asocial situation, I still take pleasure in bringing home a bulging sack of the thickest, cream-filled pockets and sitting on my bed sucking and smacking away. If I am really hungry, I maximize my eating experience by looking at pictures of donuts on the internet while I eat donuts. When I have had girlfriends to eat with, I have had a heck of a time trying to explain all of those cream stains on my bedspread. And when I tell them it is filling, they always seem doubtful.

“Sure John Fargen, of Leesburg, Georgia, 1449 Cherry Dr.,” she’ll begin. “I want to believe you; I truly do. But so many times I have gotten burned by men whose cream-eating habit ended up being an indicator of that deep anti-catholic behavior.”

I tried to explain that 1) the cream isn’t really cream at all, and 2) that while yes I did enjoy it, that it had always been a subsitute for the nagging and saggy-boobed presence of the real American womans.

Sometimes when you are surrounded by all you can eat donuts every day, they become less tempting.

Oh sure at first you try them all. The chocolate ones with nuts, the powdery ones with the fruity filling, the cream filled ones that squirt in your mouth when you bite into it.
The after you have had them all something changes. The glaze loses it sweetness, the dips lose there sheen, the sugar coated ones don’t have enough sugar and the nuts taste old and bitter. What is worse is that no matter how many times you dunk them, it doesn’t get better…it just gets soggy.

What I wouldn’t do to have a salad bar.

With my sweetie in Canada, I don’t get to share donuts with him in person very often.

However, we phone every weekend morning and have donuts while talking on the phone. He’s real good about describing how he delicately nibbles on his donut, and how delicious it is, but all I ever manage is moans of pleasure.

Sharing donuts over the phone is at least better than sending donuts by mail. (Those mail-order ones leave all those crumbs around too!) But sharing them in person is so much better! Swapping bites of the tasty ones, maybe stealing a nibble while the other person is distracted, so many other things!

And we all know the best donuts are made by this one bakery in Texas!
