Do these “kinky” fluorescents, CFLs I think they are called, all come in standard sizes for the specification?
Let me ask it differently. I have a GE 6500K, 15 Watt CFL. I would like a 6500K, 15 Watt that is shorter in length and bigger in diameter. Does such a thing exist?
There is some variation, but you have to look for yourself. There’s also a CFL made in a ring about 6 inches across. I’d suggest looking at a big store, where they’ll have a wider variety.
Lamp and lighting stores tend to have a better selection of oddball bulbs than the big box stores. The ones around here also have a sales staff that’ll help you find what it is you’re looking for.
If you’re having trouble fitting a CFL into a lamp with a lampshade, you can also try using a harp extender instead of making the bulb smaller.
