Do you bleach your children's teeth?

I’m glad to see most people wouldn’t think of it. I hear people say how harmless the stuff is, and that makes me nervous,

Not a mom, but seriously, WTF? If your kids’ teeth are so stained after only a few years of eating solid food, I’d be more concerned with what exactly you’re feeding them than whether or not to bleach.

This isn’t about stained. It’s about vanity. The result of bleaching goes way beyond removing stains.

You can bleach teeth? Seriously?

Wow, there goes a little bit more of my ignorance…

Have you seen the commercials for Crest White Strips? Stuff like that. The Dope banner ads are having a field day with this too lately.

My daughter was anxious to bleach her teeth. I’ve done it myself, and after reading the box, told her, “No, you have to be at least sixteen years old.” She rolled her eyes and said, “Mom, I am sixteen.”
So I let her have some whitestrips. The effect was good and she hasn’t needed or wanted to do it again since (that’s been a couple of years now).

My thirteen year old son has distinctly yellow teeth, although I harass him about his brushing. When he is older, I might suggest that he try the strips also…however, he had a broken tooth in the front, and of course the patch is yellow to match, so then again maybe not.
