Do You Boycott Certain Actors Because You Don't Like .....

I’ve tried to stay away from Mel Gibson films ever since he exposed himself as rabidly anti-British. This was well before his anti-Semitism was revealed.

Do I? It’s gotten to the point where I boycott all actors by default, and only take them off the blacklist if they show evidence of not being insane.

Funny thing about Tom Cruise though… his movies are shockingly bad. Ghost Protocol is probably the best thing he has done since A Few Good Men. Other than those, you don’t exactly need a reason to boycott.

No; I avoid actors whose work I don’t usually like, but as much as I hate 90% of Cruise’s work and think him a complete idiot I loved The Color of Money, so avoid but not boycott. Boycotting him because he’s a Scientologist would mean I’d also have to boycott “Grease” - noooooooo! (I was 13y362do when it came to town. It was rated 14+. My parents took us out of town to ensure I would not go watch it. I’m still traumatized, damnit.)

Jane Fonda, for her fraternizing with the enemy.

the fact that they were born in July.

So I won’t watch any movie featuring:

Donald Sutherland
Liv Tyler
Forest Whitaker
Hilary Swank
Kevin Spacey
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Will Smith
Harrison Ford
Wesley Snipes
Vin Diesel

I don’t usually get too wrapped up in things like certain actors’ political beliefs or causes they support. but there are some (like Alec Baldwin) I can’t stand to watch just because I know how much of a raging asshole they are.

I’m curious about this one. Because he picked up a prostitute? If that’s the only reason, you should avoid everything that comes out of Hollywood.

Woody Allen. I can’t watch even his older movies any more, he has so utterly and forever skeeved me out. Not only marrying his adopted daughter, but playing a middle-aged schlub with a 17 year old girlfriend in “Manhattan”. (which has always flummoxed me - where the hell were her parents???) That is utterly revolting, the ego of that asshole. I think he’s deluded and contemptible beyond redemption. (I am thankful that at least his last few movies he’s come to his senses and is, probably reluctantly, casting other, more attractive, younger actors to play ‘the Woody Allen’ role.)

Mel Gibson - he is dead to me, lol. Tom Cruise - fake, batshit insane now under some control, creepy creep posing with his tragic, fake wife and that tragic, feral child. Just appalling, the three of them. I would include Lindsay Lohan, but I’ve never seen a single thing she’s been in, and I never want to, either.

Last time I went to see Mission impossible, I bought a ticket to another movie to get into the theater. Didn’t want to miss Brad Bird at work.
Haven’t seen Mel Gibson’s work since passion of the christ, just to see what the controversy was about.

Tom Cruise.

He comes across as fake, cheesy and way too intense.

Um…he’s an actor. That’s kinda what they do.

It’s PEOPLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!
Seriously, another vote for Mel Gibson. Not sure why the guy squicks me out more than Polanski, but he does.

I never have, but my parents refused to watch the “Naked Gun” movies when I was a kid, explaining that they were just too creeped out by OJ Simpson playing a light-hearted comedic character.

Nicole Kidman - frozen face, wooden acting and dull to watch.

Jennifer Anniston - seems to play the one character. Insipid.

My wife always seems to pick up the lastest romantic comedy to watch on DVD.
I’ll watch along for the heck of it.
Except for the ones with Katherine Heigl.
I can’t stand that smarmy chick.

I don’t watch movies with Tom Cruise in them because they suck. Except for that one with Rebecca DeMornay in it. Then I only look at her.

I’m curious how old you are. Was this after the murders or did they just find him creepy before that.

I’ve enjoyed some of Woody Allen’s movies, esp Bananas. He may be a creep but he used to make some good ones. I’ve also enjoyed Tom Cruise, especially A Few Good Men and Rain Man. Mel Gibson’s too, like The Road Warrior and Tim.

I really don’t know any Polanski movies, nor any good ones Jane Fonda was in. So, I guess the answer is No, I do not boycott certain actors.

How is Suri a “feral child?”

  1. I don’t pay much attention to what they do in private.
  2. I don’t watch that many movies to begin with.
  3. Who gives a rat’s ass?

Yep.

Won’t watch:

  • Jane Fonda
  • Tim Robbins
  • Michael Moore
  • Rob Reiner
  • Susan Sarandon

Their policial beliefs make it impossible for me to separate them from the characters they play.

Woody Allen - Because his personal life, and the quasi-incest, is just too unpalatable for me.
