That’s been my policy and rationale for a very long time.
Although @Cervaise just below also has a point. 
I swing both ways (eyes shut and eyes open) but usually I WANT to see what I’m about to kiss.
You expect someone else to sneak in on the lean in?
Maybe it depends on whether this is a 1-bag or a 2-bag situation? 
Depends how long I’m kissing them for. Maybe where, as well.
I genuinely don’t know. The whole thing is automatic. I’ll have to wait until I (1) have someone to kiss again and (2) am not thinking about this thread, so I do it automatically.
(BTW, that last part also messes up people asking you how you say certain words. Gotta catch yourself saying it naturally.)

I definitely close my eyes. I think part of the reason this is so common is because it eliminates one sense to heighten the others. It makes it easier to concentrate on being a good kisser. That’s my theory.
No! You never close your eyes when kissing. That is when they will kill you.
It is the same whether you are in a relationship, or in the mafia, or our thing. They always send the person you trust the most to kill you.
