Do you dislike wine?

You can sit by me Turek because I keep trying along with you and haven’t found one yet I wanted to put in my mouth. I can handle a spritzer if I must, but would prefer any mixed drink or alcopops like hard lemonade or cider.

I don’t cook with wine, but have found to my surprise I can handle the flavors in food. My boyfriend uses some kind of wine in nearly everything he makes and I thought I’d hate his cooking at first, but was very happy to discover I didn’t.

Count me in as not being enamored of wine. Sulfites are migraine triggers, and it is difficult to find sulfite-free wines; even then, they’re said not to be too good. My palate is not developed enough to tell the difference, so I’d just as soon not try. If I go to a wedding, and somebody offers me a glass of Champagne, I’ll drink it, but just one, as more gives me a headache (not a migraine, but a headache). But just regular wine? Keep it.

I’ve never enjoyed wine. I can’t stand the taste of beer either, fwiw. I’ve tried lots of both.

I’ve drunk plenty of liquor but I don’t find that it tastes good, it just “gets the job done” when the situation calls for it.

I love wine. When I was growing up, what my parents called "wine’ ----wasn’t. It was awful stuff – harsh brandies and fruit-flavored concoctions. then I got to college and discovered real wine. In grad school, I lived near a wine-producing region, and went on winery tours, and so got to try lots of wines. I prefer whites, even though the reds are supposed tio be more complex, and to go better with red meat.
I assume all those people complaining about tannins are drinking reds. If so, try white wines. Too sour? try lighter varietals. Try white zinfandels.

I dislike wine. I pretty much never drink it.

I also dislike beer and pretty much all alcohol. It’s hard for me to imagine that people actualy enjoy the flavor.

This dislike of mine is actually a pretty good thing because my family has a history of alcohol abuse, and at least I don’t have to worry about that!

I usually like the smell of red wines. I’ll frequently take a sniff of my husband’s glass, but I won’t drink it. White wines do nothing for me WRT taste or smell. I tried for years to like wines, and although I can get them down, I don’t enjoy the taste. I don’t like the flavor of alcohol in general; scotches fall into the same category as sweeter wines, where I can drink them but don’t enjoy them, and I don’t like beer at all.

ETA: I also hate cilantro.

Whites have a different kind of nasty flavor than reds, but it’s the same basic nastyness.

I’m not a fan of alcohol but everyone assured me that wine would be different. It wasn’t. I’ve tried at least half a dozen kinds. It mostly reminds me of runny cough syrup.

No, love wine, love coriander.

I love it. I have a glass or two just about every night.

I like pretty much all alcohol, so long as it is of good quality. I used to drink a lot more wine than I do now (beer is more my everyday tipple of choice these days), but reds, whites, rosés…I love them all. They really do add to the whole experience of eating and good pairings do seem to enhance the taste of each other. A cheese plate, for instance, tastes so much better when paired with a nice sauvignon blanc or chardonnay, just as a bone-in ribeye is taken to stratospheric heights with a bold, deep red like a cab or zin. And no outdoor picnic, for me, would be complete without a crisp quaffing wine, and for that, rosés are my style of choice, especially pinot noir rosés.

I used to like all wines but, as of a few years ago, I can’t even smell a red wine and I’ll get some kind of indigestion or reflux reaction. It’s kind of bizzarre. I can still drink white wines, but who in their right mind drinks that?

P.S. I love cilantro.

I was gonna say, “me too”, but then I noticed you said “glass” not “bottle”. :frowning:

Heh. Well, on the weekends yea. You could replace ‘glass’ with ‘bottle’ in that sentence. And, well, I have some pretty big glasses.

Every form of alcoholic beverage tastes nasty to me. I have never been able to develop a taste for it. A good quality expensive wine tastes better than shitty wine but it’s still nasty to my taste. If I’m in a social situation that calls for drinking, such as dinner with a client when I’m consulting, I can choke down lager beer or premium tequila. I like the taste of wine in cooking but that’s probably because the alcohol is burned off.

I love wine, but there was quite a stretch where I pretty much choked it down. My tastes changed right around the time I went from mild cheddar to Vieux Boulogne.

I’m not a fan of any dry wine, but I do enjoy many sweet varieties. Lots of Rieslings, for instance, hit the spot for me. And the Danish cherry wine Kijafa is sublime.

I love beer, but my tastes tend the same way – away from the more bitter hops, and toward the sweeter malt.

I’m not very fond of wine. I used to like it, but nowadays reds always give me acid stomach, and whites just taste like wee. Except for champagne. I really, really like champagne.

All I know is if anyone orders Merlot, I’m leaving. I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot.

I appreciate complex red wines but I can’t really say I ENJOY them all that much. I much prefer beer, particularly hoppy IPAs.

White wines I generally find to be insipid.

Oh, and hate cilantro.
