I do. Every couple of weeks, I have a dream about one or more posters here.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to why I dream of one particular Doper or another, and the dreams are always different. The only constant is that I have no clue what the Doper featured in my dream looks like. Sometimes the dreams are sexual, sometimes they’re funny, sometimes they’re mundane and boring. If I had to venture a guess I’d say I’ve had these dreams about 10 different Dopers, maybe more. If I ever were to meet any of those Dopers in person, boy would my face be red thinking of what I did to them in a dream.
For instance, last night I had a dream that I had a boyfriend (IRL, I don’t), and in the middle of our date, he turned to me and asked, “Ever heard of the SDMB? I post there all the time, and my username is [name removed to avoid potentially embarrassing anyone here]…” Funny thing is, I didn’t recognize the username as one I’d seen before. So this morning, I did a search, and lo and behold - that username does exist.
I’m not sure what to make of these dreams. I either spend too much time here, or have a really boring personal life, or a combination of both.
Does anyone else experience dreams about random, unknown Dopers?
For no reason I can understand, the other night I dreamed I was playing online poker and Coldfire was at the table. I had a dog hand but I drew a flush on the river, beating his trip Jacks. He immediately left the table and I thought ‘uh-oh, I’ll be banned for sure’.
I’ve had dreams about Tiburon, Nocturne, UnwrittenNocturne, Xan, and **vivalostwages ** before. They were all just typical dreams with no shenanigans, sexual or otherwise, although I have had quite a few (three or more) about the first two.
I’ve had two that I can recall; one about fruitbat, in which he was a lady of about 70 years old. I met him at a DopeFest a week or two after this dream, and, needless to say, he’s not an old lady! Also had a dream about going to a DopeFest, and this tall, black drag queen walked in, and introduced himself as Otto! Now, I’ve never met Otto, but I believe I’ve seen pics of him (linked to from some thread or another), and he’s not a tall black drag queen. No idea about why I’ve dreamed of these guys, or what the dreams mean. In fact, I’m not convinced that dreams always have to mean something; sometimes, it’s just a dream.
But it is a relief to know I’m not the only one this has happened to.
I’ve dreamt about Dopers. I don’t remember specifically what I dreamt about, but if I did, I wouldn’t share because it’s probably too embarrassing. I’ve never met any Dopers in real life–at least, that I know of. I’ve probably interacted with a few without knowing it. What an odd thought. But back to the OP. Yep, Doper dreams abound in the cranium of AwSnappity.
I had a dream once where Eve and I were driving around southern Maryland; there was a giant robot looming in the distance, and Eve sensibly suggested we turn the car and go in the other direction–but, in that way dreams have, it didn’t do any good, since no matter what road we took, it just brought us closer to the danger. Then Godzilla showed up, presumably to fight the robot, but at this point things begin to be a little confused.
I thought about posting this just after I had the dream, but didn’t wish to presume on so slight an acquaintance.
Interesting that Eve was mentioned–I don’t recall ever having an exchange with her on these boards (or elsewhere), but I always enjoy her posts. Just last night in a dream, she and I had a conversation on an airplane. The details of my dreams rarely survive, but I remember that everything she said was witty, slightly sarcastic but never rude, grammatically correct and perfectly punctuated.
