One SIL and her adult kids regularly post photos of themselves - alone or in groups - making faces. Just wondering how many folk appreciate those sorts of photos.
Me, I don’t like them at all. I’d be very happy to see a pic of someone smiling, looking neutral, candid, whatever. But I do not derive anything positive from a pic of someone making an expression for the camera.
It’s hard to even know where to start. I get the feeling OP looks at a LOT more photos of relatives than I do so as to form a preference. I’m lucky to get a few glimpses a year and, given the contrived choice, I’d rather not see boring school pictures and wedding reception table shots if it means I won’t get to see student extracurricular action photos or the wedding dance floor.
Before my mother died from Alzheimer’s, one of her favorite activities in the last months was having me help her take selfies with all the silly filters available in SnapChat. She was truly happy during those times, so my vote was very biased toward “I like them”
I don’t loathe them or even dislike them all that strongly. So I suppose technically I fit in the “don’t feel strongly either way.” But…I dunno. I think I’ve eye-rolled at them just enough to commit to actual dislike.
I’m always the one with a camera, at family, friend, and work gatherings. After serious photos, I try to get folks to give me some crazy faces to capture. Quite often, the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil trio. Most seem to enjoy the funny ones as much as the serious.
I only see an occasional one on FB. This one family posts more “funny face” photos than everyone else combined. I saw one this morning before starting this thread. I saw it was from a niece and scrolled down to look at it, but when I saw it was 3 adults mugging for the camera, I just clicked past it without bothering to even see who was in it.
When I said I’d prefer candids, I was saying I’m fine with “action” shots. But I just have zero interest in seeing pictures of people making faces.
The last decade or so has made me dislike humans, at least, in aggregate. As for immediate family, which might get a grudging pass, none of them are prone to this, so I’m spared - and -this- place is my social media, so, double luck!
But… if I read the question in the title only, I would have to give a different answer than “don’t care for them” - because funny cat faces can be a lot of fun.
I think they’re silly but don’t really mind them much. With one glaring exception. Whenever I try to take a selfie, I can’t not mug at the damn camera, so I always end up looking goofy as Hell despite myself .
The distorted funny faces using filters like the weiner dog squeezed up like a tube of goo make me nauseous.
One of my loved ones is in a high visibility profession but every gd photo they post is chummy chummy with a “bestie of the day “ that gets old. One doesn’t need to upload pics every 12 hours of themselves.
