I do occasionally. I don’t have a temper problem, per se, because I can recognize this when it happens and remove myself from the situation or force myself to think rationally.
For example, I cannot stand to see my football team (Go 'Horns!) lose badly. I get infuriated, and it destroys the entire day for me. So, in the interest of preserving the structural integrity of my TV, I shut the game off. I may (and have) miss an exciting comeback, but that’s the price I pay for peace.
Anyone else get anger surges for mostly insignificant reasons?
My roommate is a worse offender than I am (he’s an angry, angry person), but I do have moments when I just want to scream, hit something (someone?), or just growl incoherently for several seconds.
Usually this occurs while trying to debug a program for my software developement class. I try to convince myself that the computer doesn’t do things just to piss me off, but sometimes one has to wonder.
Also, when I hear someone saying something incredibly stupid and shallow (for instance, “How can you like her? She’s fat!”) I just want to slap them, beat them over the head with a rock, and pour salt and their wounds.
I get more angry than I should when I am tired. Everything seems to affect me worse when I am tired. Generally, I don’t get angry over little stuff though.
You have really done it this time!
You are in for it now! Don’t try to get help, it’s too late for that Bucko! Start saying your prayers, because NOBODY can …
um…
What exactly did you do wrong again?
