Do you expect the recent election will affect your SDMB participation?

Same. Whats really disappointing is that Gen Z and Gen Alpha are worse than their parents generation. I remember when about 65% of young voters voted for Obama in 2008 and how it helped him win.

Now the manosphere can infiltrated younger generations. I’ve heard endless stories from teachers about the open misogyny among young people now. Apparently a meaningful share of the younger generations now are just misogynistic trolls, and those are the future voters of America.

With both latinos and young people openly embracing a party that endorses authoritarianism and misogyny, we are fucked as a country. We are going to keep losing elections and keep losing more and more human rights and theres nothing we can do except either move to a blue state and hope state law protects us, or leave the country.

But, how will that affect your posting on this board?

You’ll notice it’s not all political stuff being said here.
I understand if you don’t want fuzzy kitten lovefests.
There are other important issues to discuss.

Personally I think we should all stop regurgitating doom and gloom. It might really get bad soon. Why court an unhealthy attachment to these issues.
It’s not like we all don’t realize the dangers.

Stop the insanity. It’s truly no good for our mental health.

Fuzzy kittens, you say?

Its only been 3 days, we need time to process the grief about how dysfunctional we are as a country, and accept the fact that 2016 wasn’t a fluke, it was a sign of who we are as Americans and that this is the new normal going forward.

There are a lot more topics on SDMB that interest me more than politics. I rarely post about political issues, so I don’t expect to change in that respect. I will probably do a lot less reading of political topics, however. I’m really burned out on politics for the moment, as are many people.

I expect it’ll be shut down as “subversive” at some point, but I’ll keep posting until then.

About the same, with a proviso. About a month prior to the election I decided to post LESS in the Trump Pit threads. Yeah, it was satisfying, but it just reminded me of all the aggravations and my despair at how much of America would support a convicted sexual offender whose criminal efforts were endless. Posting on the topic again and again, and on each new revelation was emotionally exhausting. And now of course, it’s even worse.

So I think I’ll post about the same, in any place where it’s useful, and the reduced posting about him will continue. So, the prior pre-election change will become the new normal.

If the anti-Trump post less on that subject, and the pro-Trump post the same (or maybe even more), does that effectively turn the SDMB into a pro-Trump board?

Eventually, since the Trumpists will drive everyone else away.

And that is precisely the “fairness” the right is asking for on this message board.

Well, if they come here, Don’t talk to them. Don’t engage. Don’t entertain.
When they don’t get what they want they’ll move on.

If you ignore them, they have found a safe haven. Not too many problems just disappear when ignored. Congrats on finding the easy answer, though.

And who is that? Where are all these pro Trump posters?

The ones who have been popping up various places on the board to gloat and throw insults.

The few trolls and trocks that got banned? Yep they are certainly taking over.

It’s almost as if they can’t take over if they get banned. As opposed to ignored and allowed to relentlessly harass and threaten people.

You seem to be arguing against just ignoring them, pointing out that active protest actually works.
Whoopsy!

I never said to ignore anyone. If anyone is harassing or insulting report it.

I mean, I thought that was obvious.
