Do you generally prefer to sit or stand while showering?

It would also be handy to clean off a corpse but, other than that, if you have legs stand on them.

I sit, and then pretend I’m in a submarine that’s been hit.

No. Not really. I’ve never heard of shower-sitting before.

What **Cal **said in post #2.

My shower has a built in seat which we use as a shelf for soap, shampoo, etc. I’ve tried sitting on it, but it leaves you too far away from the water spray. Yes, you’re getting wet, but no, you’re not getting that *scrubbed by the force *feeling. So it’s unsatisfying.

I can certainly see sitting if that was the only safe or practical way for me to take a shower. But sitting by choice? Makes no sense.

And sitting directly on the shower floor, as folks upthread seem to have suggested, seems stranger yet. I’ve got a standard or just over standard-sized shower & I’d have to sit cross-legged to fit in the floor space and cross-legged on a hard surface is usually pretty uncomfortable. That *really *makes no sense. At least to me.

Most definitely sit. Well, I wash up standing, but then sit on the built in seat while washing my hair and shave my face.

The shower spray is plenty strong so there is no issue with getting wet enough.

And our shower is big enough that I will sometimes sit on the floor too. Turn the water real hot and spray it away from me and it turns into a steam bath.

I am a world class sitter.

I’ll often do a pre sit stand where I get rinsed off some. Then I sit and close the drain so the water can rise and I can marinate in my own filth. I’ll get out the way of the shower head flow and lather up the old hair and upper body. Then I’ll move back a bit to rinse that off. Now that my feet have soaked a bit, they (and the legs) get a lather and a scrubbing. Then, its time to shave. Usually do that sitting under the flow. Once thats all done, I may just sit there awhile enjoying the moment. If I really want to relax, I set the shower flow to hot water only and direct the flow so I can sit without getting a direct body hit by supper hot water. Eventually the drain get reopened and I stand up and do a final rinse.

Oh and we have a standard bath/shower combo. Tub just big enough for a moderately large person to sit in and lay back a little. No shelfs or seat. I sit flat on the bottom.

The one time I used a shower with a seat I didn’t sit in it so much as just use it to prop my leg up while shaving. Besides that, sitting while showering just seems too inactive for me. I usually put on some music and dance around.

All the people perplexed at the idea of sitting in the shower must have a shower stall type of thing. It’s pretty common to have the tub/shower combo units where theres a showerhead above your tub. So then you just sit in the tub like you were going to take a bath, but instead of stewing in your own filth you get nice relaxing hot water jets blasting your whole body.

If you’re envisioning someone sitting on the grimey floor of a shower stall I can see where that’d be kinda weird, but sitting in a tub during a shower doesn’t seem weird at all. Seems less strange than taking a bath, IMO.

A shower/tub combo is all I’ve ever had in the places I’ve lived, and the thought of sitting down while showering probably never would have occurred to me if not for this thread.

As luck would have it, this thread first popped up yesterday just as I was about to go take a shower. When I got in, I thought about it - for about two seconds. I’d have to stand back up to adjust the shower head, or to wash my body properly, so what would be the point?

I’m shocked that I’m the first person to come in here to offer this: I fill in the bathtub partway, sit down, THEN turn on the shower. (Yes, as the old Steven Wright joke Leaffan quoted, in order to pretend I’m in a submarine that got hit… “Bilge bay CLOSED, sir!” ;)).

Anyway, on shaving days I’ll take the beard off, then wash, then shampoo, all while sitting down (with a quick stand-up to rinse off at the end). On non-shaving days, I’ll sit back and relax for a few minutes, maybe even doze off a bit.

This is my workday routine. I’ll take regular showers on the weekends, but during the workweek I have trouble waking up most mornings, this is my little ritual.

Admittedly a bit wasteful when it comes to water, but I don’t have too many indulgences, I’ve been doing it this way for close to 20 years now, back off!

You don’t have legs or feet, but you don’t sit in the shower? You are one tough bastard!

I don’t have one, I have two.

I always sit in the shower as well.
Very relaxing - lets me think about what I have planned for the day and feel the water just cover me completely - we have one of those rain shower nozzles, so it really is like sitting in a heavy rain storm, except it is nice hot/warm water.

By the way, for those who have never tried it - give it a shot and see what you think. You might like the relaxation effect.

I have the shower and tub thing in one bathroom and shower stall in the other. I sit in them both, grimy floor and all.

Yes.

And if you really wanna get decadent, let the tub fill up a good bit and slide down till your ears are underwater. The sound of the shower hitting the waters surface is so nice and relaxing as well.
