Do you hang Christmas stockings? Do you fill them?

Mrs. Magill loved having oatmeal baths while she was preggers.

If you’re looking for a place for a pedicure, send me a PM and I’ll let you know where she goes.

I have stockings for everyone and I fill them up. Everyone gets an orange, walnuts, those chocolate gold coins, a big chocolate bar, and some small gifts like chapstick, hand lotion, perfume, costume jewelry, nail clippers, small candles, etc. I really enjoy finding stuff for the stockings.

Yup! It used to be just the kids, but now that we’re grown we (sibling and I) do our parents’ stockings and they do ours.

The orange at the bottom is always traditional. After that? Chocolate, chips, magazines, candy canes, makeup, candles, jewelry, burned mix CDs, small gifts and toys… stuff like that.

Although I’d love to know where I can get my hands on some coal…

We have stockings, but don’t always fill them. My husband has put jewelry or cd’s in mine before, but usually doesn’t bother. But back when I was single and had a room-mate, we got each other stocking stuffers. Funny post-it pads, bookmarks, candy, nail polish, geeky little toys, etc. It was nice. That’s also the sort of stuff my mom used to put in mine when I was at “home.”

My family never did this. But my better half’s family always did; so we do it too.
Everyone gets one, even the dog. They get mostly filled with candy, soaps, Pokemon cards, doggie treats. Our cats get shafted in this regard, but they never hang around when we open presents.

We never did stockings. As a child, it was always pillow cases.

We do! For Ladies, consumables and small/sample sizes of perfumes and cosmetics. Doesn’t matter if they’re her faves or not, it’s a great risk-free chance to try something new! Travel sized things are always a good plan, too.

I bet you bought your holly, too, and had a big posh Hogswatch tree in the front hall. And a big posh snooty dinner in the evening. Some people.

We do stockings, and I always make sure there’s fruit and nuts in his, because that’s how Mom, er, Santa did it when I was a kid. (And Mom always makes sure there’s some fruit and nuts and candy in our stockings even now. Yes, I get 2 stockings. In some ways, I enjoy the stockings more than the wrapped presents.) So an orange or two, a handful of walnuts, usually some mini-Snickers bars and/or Jelly Bellies, then little odds and ends I think he would enjoy. Basting brushes, a couple decks of cards for his magic tricks, a bottle of a hot sauce he hasn’t tried, whatever I happen to run across.

He usually puts–well, there’s no telling what he’ll put in my stocking. There’s frequently something along the lines of bubble bath or massage oil, some little foodie something like airplane bottles of fancy liqueurs for my cheesecake recipes or fancy hot chocolate mix, some little craft supply like beading wire or sketching pencils.

Last year there was a “Let’s Be Bad” bear he won at karaoke night–it was a small stuffed bear wearing a teddy and holding a shot glass. Except that the shot glass had slipped, and there was just this strip of black elastic between the paws, so it looked just like the bear was holding a riding crop. It was a very  :dubious: moment.
