[Warning: The following is very mundane and pointless. Read at your own peril]
Well, not just questions but also topics of discussion. I have a file. I try to post maybe 1 a week but sometimes during the week I’d think of a couple of questions and post those first. Or I’d encounter a thread where I’m constantly posting in so I forget to stard my own thread. I really should get the ones that are more relevant by proximity out first, but sometimes I feel too lazy to do that
I have 90 unposted topics, though I think some have been posted by others. I guess you people are stuck with me for another 2 years at least
And no, this topic wasn’t on the list. I just got bored
I sporadically have a couple. I don’t like to post questions asking for objective answers on weekends. I don’t like to post two related questions in the same OP. So, I keep a couple of questions from time to time in a short list.
I don’t have any. I never have any good questions, so I try to have either witty or informed answers. Usually I only accomplish about half that goal…
But I read the OP as something about questions I was saving for the Pope… So, in keeping with my half-witty track record:
Why the funny hat? What does it signify?
Why can’t most priests marry? You’re letting the Anglicans that you recruit stay married. Does this mean there’s a 2-tiered arrangement from now on? If a Catholic priest switches teams and becomes an Anglican and gets married, can he switch back and bring his bride with him? (Ditto for nuns, BTW) If some pope, at some future time says “It’s OK for the troops to marry now”, can someone after him reverse that decision?
Does your passport say “Vatican City” as place of residence?
I’ve never seen a passport that includes place of residence as an official datum. My old US passport has a place you can pencil in your current address, but it isn’t authenticated and I doubt anyone would accept it as proof of residence.
US Passports DO include place of birth. In my US Passport, it lists a US territory under “Place of Birth”, but doesn’t indicate that I don’t live there now or what state I DO live in now.
Why? Tradition. It wasn’t a part of the Church from the beginning, only back to the middle ages or so. Back then it cut back on priests enriching their sons by passing on property (not always, see: Pope Alexander VI), and perhaps a family can be a distraction.
Members of non-Roman, Eastern Catholic Churches can be married as well. I think in most cases, bishops are expected to be unmarried. If an Anglican converts and then his wife dies or the marriage gets annulled, I don’t believe he has permission to remarry.
To the OP: Yes, I have a message in the “Drafts” folder on my phone. I post from it very, very slowly.
Nope! I’m usually the very impulsive poster or thread starter. Sometimes I regret starting a thread if I was too impulsive, and didn’t think the question/topic through enough, only to my chagrin when I realize it was pretty obvious or made a painfully obvious flaw in my reasoning.
But other than that, I mostly just post on a whim.
Every so often, I will find myself pondering a question until a light bulb goes off in my head and I think “I’ll ask the board!”
Of course, more often that not, I usually forget what the question is by the time I’m home and near my computer. I had a good one just yesterday, dammit, and I already forgot.
I should keep an actual list, then this wouldn’t happen!
Here is my unedited list in pure Rukenbrain.txt format:
