Do you have a mission in life?

Inspired by a GD thread – no, I’m not going to say which one. Anyway, clear enough, as per the thread title: do you have a mission in life? And if so, what?

I’ll go first: no. There, that was easy, wasn’t it?

Nope. I’m just dust in the wind.

Not a mission that I myself would fulfill but my desire is to live to see certain scientific advances come about.

To see the end of needless suffering, or the end of grandiose life missions.

To raise my children to be happy, prosperous men.

To get a flying car.

To contribute to the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men (and women).

God damn, I wish I did.

I’ll come back and tell you what it is if I achieve it.

Yes. To write a book and publish it. Or so I tell myself while killing time on message boards.

Yes, absolutely. To use the talents, skills and damn good luck I’ve got to do what I can to make the world a better place. Specifically, this is looking like it’s going to be about fighting malaria. I dream of the day malaria is eradicated from this earth.

“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.”

** What is thy will?

It is my will to eat and drink.

** To what end?

That my body may be fortified thereby.

** To what end?

That I may accomplish the Great Work.

“Love is the law, love under will.”

To not die.

My mission in life until very recently was to keep my youngest brother a part of our family for which I had a twelve year battle with social services who saw a healthy white enough child and wanted to adopt him out to strangers. Once he got into the teenage years and was no longer desirable to the adoption market, the social workers have been amazingly quiet.

To get the band back together. It’s a mission from Gahd.

Not to change the world, just my corner.

Yes. My mission in life is to get on board and enjoy the ride.

So many women. So little time.

Me too! It’s wonderful to share a dream, isn’t it.

And then we have to get $5,000 to the Cook County Assessor’s Office.
