Do you have a right to delete pictures of yourself on someone else's camera?

Oh well, I was on a roll at that particular moment. Just talking shit. In truth, I wouldn’t do it. Unless you were a total out of line jerk and got stupid with me. Then I might start shooting your picture so I could have a photographic record of the lunatic who was assaulting me. I mean, you can sit and think up some circumstance that would justify acting like a she-bear protecting her cubs, but you are just being ridiculous.

Are you sure? Because I haven’t threatened violence or anything like it. I’ve given you a couple reasons why I would object to a stranger taking photos of me or my child. I’ve provided a link proving limitations to your First Amendment rights wrt to photography without consent of subjects. (Protip: journalism is protected; voyeurism not so much.) I’ve explained that my reaction to spotting a stranger’s lens trained on me or mine in a non newsworthy venue would be to ask you to stop, or call attention to your potentially creepy behavior. If you find my pov to be disproportionate, that’s too bad. I feel just as strongly that I have the right to attempt to protect my privacy as you do to make a nuisance of yourself with a camera.

Have you considered journalism as a career?

A few minutes ago a woman called me on my cell phone and asked me if I liked taking pictures of people without their permission. Naturally the number was blocked. I looked at my profile information and poked around and I can’t figure out how she got my number. That was very clever! And a not-so-subtle attempt at intimidation. Whoever she is, she would do well in a nice little messed up dictatorship like Belarus. Over there, no Bill of Rights, no justice, and no safety from the secret police!

Yes, well you seem like just the kind of person who hates journalists, too. They’re all a bunch of liberal lovers of the Bill of Rights and Communist shit like that.

Doubling down, I see? Good strategy.

You’re just precious, you are.

I think the evidence strongly suggests that Troppus is the one who just made a threatening phone call to me through a blocked number. She used the same language as Troppus, and no other poster is attacking me.

Actually I believe it is you who has ratcheted up the drama in this thread by posting increasingly bizarre things and are having a hard time keeping your story straight. You even admit you were talking shit earlier and posting things you don’t even mean. Perhaps a break from this thread would do you a world of good since you’re now accusing people of things by pulling info straight out of your ass.

Can I please hire you to be my writer?

Journalism is a great career for curious minds and might also offer protections not available to the hobby photographer.

But who knows? This is great fun though! I never knew message boards could be so lively!

Yeah, but as you said:

So I’m not concerned about your safety.

That way lies madness! You don’t want me hurdy durdying all over using your good name!

ETA: Oh wow, the new guy used “buster brown” as smack talk. Yikes. How did I miss that nugget of gold? Oh I know, after all the “I AM HE MAN” qualifications of his bad assery my eyes must have rolled back in my head and I missed the buster brown part.

Example of something bizarre please…

So how did the extreme advocate of privacy manage to get my phone number? Just curious.

Hit control + F at the same time and that brings up a search box on your browser. Then put in your username. Read anything starting with your username.

Seriously guy, you’re telling us how tough you are, then check out your conflicting statements pointed out in post #120 and then you admitting you were talking shit. Then you say something about how the person who supposedly called you would like to go someplace where there is no Bill of Rights and then a few minutes you’re railing about liberals and Bill of Rights and Communists lovers. Shortly after that you accuse Troppus of calling you when she’s being completely civil to you despite your increasingly odd posting pattern and now you’re pretending this is all normal. Plus on several occasions in this thread you aren’t quoting anyone yet seem to be railing against someone (in one case calling someone a thug?) so it seems like you’re just going off at random. I’d say that’s plenty of examples of bizarre. I’m not going to give you anymore.

Well, this is a new one, at least to me. But I’ll give it a shot. To report a threatening phone call, you can call the police. Whether to a landline, cell, or internet phone, police can subpoena your phone’s records in order to trace even blocked calls. Bear in mind that false reporting can cause police to charge one with a crime, but if someone really and truly threatened you there is legal recourse.

Railing without quoting. Thug life.

Thank you for that information. But I don’t think I will go to that extreme. I must admit I have never had such a wild series of communications on a message board or anywhere. In fact, I am new to this medium. I’m not used to it. And when, early on in this thread, someone suggested I was creepy for saying that I could think of occasions where I would photograph people in public without their permission… I mean whoever it was, and I can’t even remember, was just so insulting that I felt like defending myself and hitting back at him or her and anyone who took up with that person.

You know what the beauty part of the internet is? At any moment in time, you can just bail on a discussion when things go pear-shaped and go find something else to talk about. Just back slowly out of thread, maybe while whistling softly and dragging a toe, and just quietly close the door behind you.

Here’s to fresh starts! cheers
