Do You Have Any (semi-)Famous FB Friends?

[bolding mine]

Yes, that’s the question I answered. I thought that’s what the OP meant, but on rereading it is somewhat ambiguous.

Yeah, I missed that in the OP. I went to school with all my semi-famous facebook friends, they’re all “real” facebook friends not just liked pages.

I went to high school with Curtis Cornell but considering he doesn’t have a wiki page and several of the guys I played football with and went on to play arena ball do I’m not sure if he counts as famous. But if you have kids check out his book.

I’m Facebook friends with a number of jazz musicians. Most are only locally known in Seattle, but I regularly interact with one (though I’ve never met him) who’s known nationally to aficionados.

A producer of and occasional panel member for the Chelsea Lately show.

Any number of comic book artists and authors, both hardcopy and webcomics.

A few musics from both the old hardcore and current jazz scene. The latter came about because an avant garde jazz trumpeter and I share a (rare and unique - we both thought) first and last name. I discovered him when a staff report I wrote here started getting fan mail for him. According to him, it’s ‘far out’.

I have a well-known character actor (actress), or at least her face is recognizable by many even if her name is not. She has been in well over 100 movies and television shows, but her most recognizable work is probably from “Donnie Darko”.

I also have another actress/comedian/tv personality who hosted a popular HGTV show for 10 years and had a recurring role in Seasons 3-5 of the show “Las Vegas” on NBC. =)

That is what I mean.

Anne Ursu
Juliet Eilperin

Mine are famous within certain circles… one’s a published author for the Shadowrun RPG, another (Steve Perrin) has been writing for the gaming industry since Runequest came out. Another was lead dancer at the Lido in Paris, and one of my brothers is one of the world’s leading hydrologists.

Opera singer Aprile Millo (we attended Hollywood High together), Charlene Tilton (both high school and Jr. high, we were in play production together as well) and Lisa Coleman (Lisa&Wendy/Prince - another high school friend but she and I are still friends today, whereas Aprile and Charlene are strictly FB reconnects)

For a short time I was facebook friends with hockey dude Mario Lemeiux. It was an accident. He was posting something to the Penquin team page and I had just posted on the same topic. He sent me a personal message (thinking it was from the team page, not his own) and somehow we each added the other?!

After reading his personal stuff for a while I realized that I didn’t belong. I messages him explaining and bowed out.

I was friends a few years ago with a few musicians and comedians who are well known who have since switched to fan pages.

A high school friend of mine is a producer for TV news. She and I are fb friends and one day it popped up “My Friend and Patti Lupone are now friends.” Later the same day it was “My Friend and Janice Dickinson

My pro-vax facebook pals include Brian Deer (the journalist who exposed Wakefield), Dr. David Gorski (the blogger Orac), Martine O’Callaghan (who blogs as autismum) and Dr. Paul Offit (noted medical researcher and wonderful author) who wrote the foreward to my book.

I’m friends with the girl who owns Tartar Sauce (AKA Grumpy Cat).
Other than that…nothing.

I’m friends with John,he put out a name call, I answered, and I will be a character in his new series Black Tide.
I can only hope for a glorious death.

I’m friends with two Hall of Famers – one for fantasy sports and one for Magic: The Gathering. :o A few friends have made Jeopardy! appearances; their combined record is 8-5 or so.

Famous FOAFs (FsOAF?) include Nora Dunn from SNL, Marsha Warfield from Night Court, Lætitia Sadier from Stereolab, and Roger Ebert (RIP).

To those of you who only offer descriptions but not actual names: What gives? It’s intriguing yet unsatisfying for us enquiring (nosy) minds.

I see no reason to put their names here - I don’t think it would add anything to the discussion and I don’t like adding personal information when it’s not needed.

Two I can think of:
I’m friends with the author of a book on Mexican drug cartels. She’s appeared as a talking head on cable news channels, been quoted by Chuck Norris in his blog (twice!), been on “Brad Meltzer’s Decoded”… I went to high school with her. It’s fun looking at her LinkedIn contacts, because it has some really important people in it.

I’m also friends with one of the divers responsible for The Cove, which won an Oscar for best documentary. We’re regulars at the same bar. I was lucky enough to be at the first public showing of the film, ever.
