Of course I’ve heard of Waldorf salad. I’ve even made it. But it’s apples, grapes, celery, walnuts in a mayonnaise sauce. I’ve never herd of it with chicken.
It’s famously mentioned in an episode of Fawlty Towers.

Thanks very much! How is it I never noticed this? It’s on my grocery list now.
It must be regional. I grew up in the 'burbs north of NYC, and the standard BEC came with SPK (salt pepper ketchup). Out here in Jersey it’s basically the same, as far as I can tell.
Maybe I shoulda moved to Park Slope instead of Jersey…
If I got mayo on my sausage egg and cheese (or bacon. I just prefer sausage), there’d be a freakin’ riot. Nothing or butter. Usually it comes with nothing standard.
I like mustard on my sausage egg & cheese. Any other egg & cheese sandwich is plain, unless I’m making my own, in which case it gets BBQ sauce.
I grew up on my dad’s egg sandwiches; he put ketchup on 'em.
I like mustard on a steak biscuit.
I used to make grilled cheese with a mild baby Swiss and Indian pickles. It’s really good!
Grilled hot dogs with peanut butter and sriracha. You can also add pickles. Not bad at all!
I put a line of Sriracha down one side of the dog and brown mustard down the other. Pretty good combo - the heat of the hot sauce is mellowed by the fat in the dog. I need to try the PB option tho - not done that yet.
We always called the fried egg, cheese, and meat sandwich a cholesterol bomb. Yummy.
Cool Whip makes a decent dip for pretzels.
I recently mixed no-sugar-added applesauce with cottage cheese.
I used to eat peanut butter, mayo, and dill pickle sandwiches often as a kid. I haven’t had one in decades, so I have no idea if I would still like it.
Daggonit! I’m hungry! I should know better to get on CS when I’m dieting.
Fresh, hot, buttered popcorn, with Cheez-Its mixed in.
Somehow that doesn’t seem weird at all in any way except in the sense of why is this the first time I’m hearing about it?
What do you think of coconut+cheddar? I saw something like that for sale at the supermarket. I have always appreciated fresh coconuts without any additions, and tasty fruit on its own in general.
I once tried papaya + garlic salad at koh noi. It actually tasted good.
Sounds good. Not too weird, though. And with grated parmesan, garlic powder and oregano it’d go from not too weird to… well, something extraordinary!
Considering you can buy chocolate covered Lays at my local grocery stores, that can’t be that weird.
Yum, yum! You’re probably talking about som tum (or some variant), which is a very popular Thai salad. It’s usually also fairly spicy and has a bit of a briny kick to it from fish sauce and dried shrimp. Here’s a sample recipe. It’s one of my favorite Thai dishes.
Oooo, that would be tasty! Must try!
I recently made Italian sausage subs with pesto on 'em then got to wondering what to do with the rest of the pesto – nearly an entire jar.
A bit of pesto and a slice of provolone in canned corned beef hash is pretty good. Not as good as those subs were, though.
One of these days I want to try a sandwich I saw detective Gannon make on ‘Dragnet’: A garlic nut butter sandwich.
Peanut butter and cream cheese on pumpernickel with crushed garlic.
