Whenever I hear a recorded announcement on a mass transit system warning us that the doors are about to shut, I always follow it up in my mind with “Por favor, mantengase alejado de las puertas.”
For anyone who doesn’t immediately smile at that, it’s the voice of the monorail that I first heard at Disneyland in the 60s.
I’m hoping it lives on at Disney World… it does on a couple of shirts! :~)
Well now I have to make another Simpsons reference, because the mention of the word “monorail” makes me want to start chanting “Monorail! Monorail! Monorail!”
When the robotic voice on the weather radio says “the barometric pressure is at 29.98 and falling”, I can’t help but think of the audio readout from the improbility drive on The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
