My second job is as an adjunct faculty member at a university, and yup, I gotta pay parking. I think it’s about 80 bucks a semester, which is about half of the normal fee, we do get a discount.
I wok at a university and if I drive, I have to pay (this is why I normally ride the bus, and just pay the $8 for a day if I need to drive).
But if I did drive in regularly, the amount would depend on what level pemit I got:
free-for-all lots are around $300/year
reserved lots (you can only park in that lot if you have that permit)are around $400/year
garages are around $500 a year
(none of these guarantee you a spot: just that you’re able to park in that lot IF you can find a spot)
Upcoming increases will take the garage rate to ~800/year in the next 4 years.
I teach college courses and do not pay for parking.
