Do you like actual storylines with your porn?

No plot for me. Porn isn’t some kind of all-night deal for me- if I’m watching porn its because I want to get off and get on with my day. A couple minutes of people screwing will do that nicely.

If you do like plot with your porn then you have to check out (Warning: NSFW) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6iZBi3Qneg (Warning: NSFW)

In text, I absolutely require a plot and some sort of connection between the characters beyond the sex. I want motivation and conflict and chemistry. Pointless and stupid written erotica isn’t going to do a thing for me. Because of this, I’m more likely to read something I wrote to get off than anything else.

In video, it doesn’t actually matter since I’ll make up the backstory in my head and it’s bound to be better than whatever they could have come up with. There are two things I do really enjoy in porn that I never see enough of, though: Foreplay and chemistry between the actors. Sex is fabulous, but I want to see what led up to that stretched out a bit more. More kissing, more touching, slowly undressing, that sort of thing. And while it’s easy enough to find people admirably screwing one another, it’s harder to find people who look like they’re genuinely enjoying one another. Wooden dialogue is one thing, but when you can see the actors mentally spending their paychecks in the midst of sex there’s a problem. If it looks like the couple (or occasionally more) would still be having sex even if there wasn’t a camera or money involved, then it’s a thousand times better.

No.

Get straight to the point.

If I want a plot I´ll watch a real movie.

Themes, on the other hand, are fine by me.

Absolutely not. In fact, I don’t even like porn with foreplay. I like to go straight to the screwing.

It totally depends on the porn, but in general plots are for burial grounds. The occasional setup can be good, but little more than the setup for a joke would be. I don’t want to watch 20 minutes of exposition, character development, subplots, etc.

The best plot I have ever seen was basically this: Two schoolgirls escaped a boring field trip and went back to the bus to finger each other’s pussies. Their teacher caught them, and asked if they were smoking pot. “Gee, Mr. Brown, no!” “Oh yeah? Let me smell your fingers.”

Boom-chicka-boom.

I didn’t need to know the teacher’s motivation. There are hot schoolgirls playing with each other’s pussies. Do we really need any more than that? Do we care if he’s experiencing marital difficulties, or that he’s having a mid-life crisis?

Even as a female, I require very little plot. That said, I find it frequently painful to watch porn, not because of all the orifices involved, but because of the pointed tongues and widespread legs.

I get it, the guys and gals are doing it for the camera, but I’ve always found it painful to have a pointed tongue sticking out of a wide-open mouth waggling and strumming and poking at me, regardless of where it is, so whenever I see it on porn, it makes me cringe and want to clamp my legs together and scream, “Dammit, close your freaking mouth and ease up with the tip of the tongue already!”

Similarly, until a woman is “warmed up,” it’s generally uncomfortable for her to spread her legs open so wide she looks like she’s about to do the splits. I imagine it’s even more uncomfortable to do so when accommodating a dick the side of many porn actors’.

Another thing that’s a huge turnoff in porn is watching the men or women spit on each other’s genetalia for lubrication or watching lesbians or men lightly thwack a woman’s clit. OW!

Sadly, it has been my experience that men often imitate porn during real life sex because that’s the model they have to go off of - if I were uncomfortable giving my husband direction during sex, I would probably hate sex and the foreplay that goes along with it.

So, bottom line - I don’t need a plot line, but watching a man (or woman) do it the way I like it would be much more arousing than watching a guy do it the way they generally do in traditional porn.

Something I’ve neglected to say (and that others have) is that yes, themes/settings are good. 30-60 seconds setting a scene is fine, five minutes (plus) of awful dialogue and “plot” isn’t. I’m all for fantasy but I’m here for the sex and to get off, not to be intellectually entertained.

I prefer my porn to have a real plot, not some contrived nonsense. Unfortunately, those are few and far between.

But a few of my favorites.

Madams Family (All time favorite)
Edward Penishands

there are a few others that I can’t remember the names of off hand, but you get the idea.

I have usually preferred amateur porn like early dvds of Reel People or Dirty Debutantes because it knows what it is - either scenes of people (not actors) acting out their own personal fantasies or women who want to get in to porn and are being filmed for the first time.

That is its own story - and doesn’t need contrived plots.

Dewey (SO) and I watched a Ron Jeremy flick, Southern Accents the other night and the acting (and southern accents) were soooo bad - i couldn’t take anything seriously. Plus some of the camera work was worse than bad.

The only thing i would like to see in porn that i don’t currently see is some kind of picture-in-picture work. So that i can see what the guy is doing to the girl AND the girl’s genuine facial expression. (Assuming it was done with non-actors but a professional filming crew.) Because sometimes I want to see the opposite of whatever they are showing.

When it’s soft core, i enjoyed a reasonable plot line. Some of my best “spank bank” material has come from stories like the Marquis de Sade or Emmanuelle.

But then again, I’ve always been most turned on by the psychology of sex. I could ramble on about why - but I’m at work and don’t want to leave a puddle in my chair. Then they would realize I’m not the good girl they think I am

If I were in Congress, I’d introduce a bill to have this banned.

Maybe it’s the way I was raised, but spitting is just ugly. Taking it up the ass, getting slapped around, and saying all manner of vulgar things is just fine. NO SPITTING! I’ve been known to close my eyes and plug my ears if I see this is about to happen.

Geez! Porn watchers offended by spittle…there’s a first.

This is me. I don’t need complicated psychologies or ten minutes of setup, but, bottom line, it’s not enough for me to simply look at people fucking. I need to know who they are, where they are, and why they’re fucking. “Scenario” describes it pretty well.

And yes, when there isn’t one, I invent one in my head (such as for out-of-context clips on the net). I also do this if I’m watching a movie and I have the context but don’t like it; I’ll mentally erase the situation and imagine a new one, and watch the performers fuck in that new (invented) context.

This is also true when I’m looking at static images, like a collection of jpegs. Even when there’s no man in the picture, when it’s one woman in a series of cheesecake poses. I need to know why she’s wearing the Slutty Cop outfit and standing in a jacuzzi tub on the roof of a building. I think about what might be going on: who she is, why she’s wearing that outfit, what the observer/photographer’s “eye” represents. Again: a scenario. It’s not enough to simply look at boobs. The boobs have to be in context.

I think you’ve hit gold on your comment about character identification. In addition to my day job, I write quite a lot of erotica and do some porn review for women. From my experience anyway, many women view porn as just as utilitarian as men do, running the gamut from those who like a good story to those who just want a quick bang, while erotica is valued mostly for the sex, but also for the quality of the writing and the development of the characters. But for women, like in erotica, the action and people in the porn have to be relatable - if a video looks like something that’s truly uncomfortable in real life, regardless of whether or not it has a plot, it’s just not going to be as attractive to a woman (keep in mind that this is excluding the fetishes).

Additionally, the women in maintstream straight and lesbian porn tend to fit a couple of standard molds: the skinny, prepubescent teen or the skinny, large-breasted, round-assed college/MILF. Both frequently have pussies that have been shaved bald (which I find extremely unappetizing - again, uncomfortable during sex). When you do see a normal-sized or overweight women, both are lumped under the “chubby-chasing” category together. Talk about poor marketing.

Anyway, the most common complaint I hear from women is not about the plot (though those types of complaints and setup related complaints are probably third on the list) - about 90% of issues I’ve heard of are related to the way the woman looks and what they’re doing (see previous post). Strangely, you rarely hear comments about the guys in mainstream porn other than how they’re using their tongues, fingers or cocks, regardless of what they look like, including attractiveness, size and shape. Even when watching porn, women tend to look at other women (YMMV, of course).

So, wait, you were raised that spitting is bad, but taking it up the ass and getting slapped around is fine???

Cool. I’ve just written my first porn with a plot

PS – I’ve never written ANY porn :x

I like the story about how the guy ferociously prongs the chick.

I like cuddling, foreplay, and characters with great chemistry. I can buy almost anything if they sell some kind of relationship–even as brief as a one-night stand. I also have a kink for consensual bondage play, especially hands bound behind the back.

(Yes, that means no rape scenarios for me, please. The double standard in some circles where “the woman is a slut if she enjoys it” annoys me.)

No cutesy names for body parts, unless it’s in the dialogue and it should be used SPARINGLY. Terms like “pussy”, “hilt”, “man-flesh”, etcetera in the narrative make me roll my eyes.

There doesn’t have to be a plot if the sex is hot enough, but a scenario more interesting than “Insert A into Slot B” would be appreciated. Witty dialogue is a definite plus.

I like plot or at least a good scenario/set-up. In fact, I wish porn would take all that is good about softcore movies and add the hard core. A hardcore Emmanuelle, or Bilitis, or Young Lady Chatterly, etc. etc. to me would be much more erotic than “100 cum-drenched sluts.”

There have been some good pornos made in this mold. Most I’ve seen are from the early 80s.

And I agree about the spitting. I really don’t want to see some guy hock a loogie on some girl’s cooter.

I’ve been to a lot of these free sites like Tube8 or RedTube or RawTube and the thing that was interesting to me was that a lot of the stuff I originally found intriguing, I quickly outgrew. And that includes the spitting for the sake of spitting.

There are some things of porn that I just don’t get. I don’t judge usually - I just fail to see the sexy in it. But i guess that’s pretty common.

Of course, I do find a lot of other porn very sexy, so there you go.

Lack of plot is why we no longer watch. We tried something last year, and not far into it we turned it off to avoid killing the feeling entirely.
I’ve seen plenty of sex. One act is pretty much like another. What turns me on is the situation - and that’s what I’ll remember. Flesh Gordon was a good movie and good porn (though the good version I saw in theaters when it came out is no longer available.)
I can’t imagine why anyone just in it for the sex, no plot, would have more than one porn DVD.

And you naked kids get off my lawn.
