Well lets see I have been born and raised here in Indiana. What I wouldnt give to get out of this state, but then again I hear everyone else saying that no state is reallly different so I guess it doesnt matter where I live huh.
No. I was born in Arkansas, and spent the next 22 years trying to reach escape velocity. We lived in fourteen different houses in nine different towns between my birth and the time I graduated from college. Graduate school gave me a good excuse to leave, and I fetched up in Atlanta, where I’ve been since. Of course, since I left, my parents have lived for fourteen years in the same house. Good thing I’m so well adjusted or I might get a complex.
Born in San Diego, reared in Baltimore, joined the Navy at age 19 and wound up in Jacksonville, FL. Moved to Virginia 3 years ago, and back to Jax this year. I don’t want to move any more… Too much hassle…
I was born in Oklahoma and moved to Texas when I was 11. It really changed my life, I have no doubt I’d be a completely different person had I stayed.
I’ve lived in Maryland all my life, which is a little strange, since the field I’m in (pharmaceuticals) is spread far and wide. I’ve managed it, tho, mostly because of my wife, who wants to stay near her folks.
Before we had kids, I would have moved almost anywhere, but now that I have two sons, I want to try to give them some stability. We moved from one end of the state to the other last year, and my oldest didn’t like it at all. Now, tho, he seems fine and has met lots of new little frineds. So, NOW I’m REALLY worried what will happen if we have to move again. It doesn’t seem likely at this point, but who knows…
Anyway let me ask a question: For those of you who had to move alot when you were kids, how did it affect you? Would you have prefferred to stay in one area, or did you like the new scenery?
Born and raised in Ohio, lived there most of my life. Now I live in upstate NY.

Born and raised in Michigan. Spent 2 years in Dayton, Ohio, as a wee lass, then back to Michigan. 4 years in the Navy equted to 2 years in Japan and 2 years in San Diego, back to Michigan, married, then 5 years later, moved to Nashville, TN for 3-1/2 years, then back to Michigan.
I’m quite content to stay here for the rest of my life: I love Michigan.
My husband fell in love with Albuquerque, NM when we visited in September so who knows what will happen.
Same state I was born in: slimy, gasping for air, suckling when possible. (Virginia: we have bare breasts in our state seal YOW).
My husband and I are both native Georgians, and yes, we still live here. We are currently having a love affair with Nova Scotia, and may end up there, breeding llamas and growing our own veggies.
That’s where I grew up!
I was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Maryland - my family has been in Montgomery County for nine generations.
After a couple years in Utah, I’m living in South Carolina. I’d move back to Maryland if the opportunity arose, but it doesn’t look likely.
Born: Central New York
Now live: Central Florida
Born in a state of ignorance, and remain blissfully so.
Geographically speaking, I regret that I have never lived outside IL. Other than 8 years of college in Champaign-Urbana, have lived on NW side of Chi or Western suburbs. And on days like today with a couple of feet of snow on the ground before the fucking middle of December, I seriously question my inertia.
I was born in Berlin VT, and I haven’t lived farther away than 20 miles from it. I’ve lived in Montpelier for 19 of my 27 years, and I never want to live anywhere else.
I’ve lived in Frederick, MD all my life. Hell the farthest I’ve lived away from it has been 10 miles or so. Unless you count college which was only 100.
Yeah…I tried that a few years back. Had to give it up though…the llamas put up too much of a fight.
And don’t even get me started on the vegatable breeding program.
Born in NY, raised in FL. I’d like to go back to NY.
