I had no idea! Do you still spend any time on any of the Rush sites or boards these days? I used to post to a Rush MB, but it went under when the (only) moderator had some, um, problems. Still, there are some good sites out there. Counterparts http://www.rushweb.net is a good one.
Oh, and MC, you can still see ‘Vital Signs’, but you have to go out and buy the ‘Chronicles’ video set.
If I’d known there were this many Rush fans I would have delurked a long time ago!
Is it just an urban myth, or is there really a promotional film of Xanadu from the mid 70’s?
Better yet, has anyone seen it?
Hey, Mars? Do you know if the National Midnight Star mailing list is still running? First list I ever got on…seems like a LONG time ago. I’m wondering if that’s the one you’re takling about…I know the website went down.
No, unfortunately the NMS is defunct. I haven’t gotten anything from the mailing list in forever and a day. The board I was speaking of was called “The Solar Federation”, and for some time was quite the place to go for up to the moment Rush information and discussion. It had kind of supplanted the NMS. Unfortunately, it died a very unpleasant death, a long story that doesn’t bear repeating.
That Counterparts site I mentioned is run by a guy who has some real close connections to Anthem records. He usually has accurate information regarding upcoming events and albums. I recommend it.
My husband, the bass player, thought he was a younger version of Geddy Lee when he was in high school. Now, when he listens to any of the albums he played (calm down, it was mostly self-produced, Christian rock stuff), he’s embarrassed because his playing is so busy. Well, live and learn but he’s still a nut about them.
Also, you are talking to the woman who fell asleep during Neil Pert’s drum solo when we saw them in Nashville a couple years ago. I know…I know… “Blasphemy!!”
That’s OK… my wife won’t usually even listen to Rush, let alone fall asleep to it
However, I did catch her singing along to ‘Closer to the Heart’ recently. ::sniff:: it was true love all over again!
I love them!! They are one of the best “older” bands, for a youngin like me. But they are soo much better than alot of the newer bands!
