Do you prefer bed sheets tucked or untucked?

Based loosely on this thread.

I prefer them to be untucked. I’m 6’ tall and it is uncomfortable for me and my big feet if they feel confined by a sheet. My 5’ tall wife likes them tucked in. Since I tend to flop around in the night, I usually get my way.

Which do you prefer?

Mine must be tucked. I don’t like having my feet touch the blankets directly.

Mr. Neville’s must be untucked, because the pressure from tucked sheets hurts his ankle.

We tuck the lower corner on my side of the bed and leave his untucked.

My husband has to have tucked-in sheets, I have to have my feet sticking out where the air is cool. He has 3 blankets. As soon as I get in the bed I peel them back to just the sheet and the lightest blanket. There’s a giant hump of blankets down the middle of the bed but the dog seems to like it.

Untucked to the extent that we don’t use a top sheet, we just sleep directly under the duvet!

I can’t stand any weight on my toes when I’m lying in bed. Not only do I keep the sheet untucked, I try to mound the comforter up so it forms a self-supporting cavern in which my feet are utterly unburdened.

Tucked and pulled tight so there’s no wrinkles or creases. I’d prefer for the sheets to be even on both sides too.

This is what we do, too. My husband grew up never having his sheets tucked and I grew up being required to do military corners on my bed. My mom would occasionally do the dime test on my bed to make sure everything was tucked tight enough. So we had to compromise. The bottom of the sheet on my side is tucked; my husband’s side is not tucked. And if he untucks my side, there’s hell to pay! (Well, not really - I just get up and tuck it right back in, but still…I can’t sleep if it’s untucked.)

Same here.

Untucked. It’s the first thing I do when I walk into a hotel room.

I also prefer the top sheet and blanket to be bigger than the bed (King sized for a full sized bed) that way I’m less likely to end up uncovered.

Someone mentioned not touching the blanket - I’m that way too if the blanket is acrylic. Since I switched to layers of cotton blankets instead of one acrylic comforter I haven’t been awakened by the horror of acrylic touching my feet.

My idea of Hell is a wool pillowcase.

Weird. Until my wife and I got together, I’d never even considered leaving top top sheet untucked. She, however, is an ardent untucker.

We do the, tuck my side leave hers open thing. I thought this was an uncommon thing. You learn something new on the Dope every day.

Untucked. I need my freedom when I sleep.

Tucked.

I sleep only under a comforter, never used sheets in my life…so for aesthetics sake tucked.

Tucked. Purely for efficiency, mind; my bed is in a corner. Making it fully is a PITA. Tucking the sheets means I only have to do half the bed.

I grew up with tucked and it didn’t bother me, but when I was on my own and my natural semi-sloppy housekeeping tendencies developed, I stopped “making” my bed every morning. With untucked top sheet I can grab the sheet and comforter together and lift-n-snap to smooth them out. I found I prefer sleeping with my feet out of the covers unless it’s really cold, too, so … untucked it is.

Seeing as I never make my bed, I’m going to go with un-tucked.

I never make my bed either, but I always make sure the sheet is tucked at the bottom corner on my side.

I tuck my sheets in because I make the bed daily. I hate an unmade bed, it makes a room look completely trashed, IMO. When I am sleeping I like them to start tucked in because otherwise I’ll get all tangled up if I am sleeping alone because I move around a lot. The bf hates them being tucked in, but I don’t mind when he’s here cause neither of us move enough while sleeping when we are together to get totally tangled up in them.

Untucked.

+1, 2 counting mrAru =)

I want to be you. My husband is a tucker and my little toesie-wosies yearn to be free.
