Do you prefer bed sheets tucked or untucked?

Just a duvet on my bed. Untucked and when I’m in the bed my feet are always outside of the duvet.

The bed is untucked but occasionally I tuck the sheet and blanket(s) under my feet themselves.

I was reading the above to mean the sides as well. A number of people seem to indicate that they and their significant other have different preferences. I can’t imagine those preferences just at the foot of the bed.

I prefer fully tucked, as Sine Nomine describes. The sheets are flat and wrinkle-free, and I don’t get tangled up in them. I find I can move around easier because I can just slide back and forth without worrying about the sheet/blanket falling off or shifting.

My wife prefers loose, as she finds it difficult to get into bed if they are all tucked in. We’ve compromised. My side and the foot are tightly tucked in (and remain so until our Sunday laundry day) and her side remains loose. To satisfy my preference, I can tug on her side of the sheets to ensure they remain tight.

I make the beds in the house, so I get my way. I’ve been making the kids beds the same way, but my son seems to prefer loose sheets. He’s managed to make a mess of his bed by the time I’ve come in to say goodnight minutes later.

Yes, but the cats love it so, getting to nest in sheets that smell like their humans. They’re the only ones likely to see the bed while we’re gone, anyway.

That’s why I specified “tucked at the bottom:” I know several people who slide in “like a letter into an envelope.” Actually, in Spanish one of the expressions for go to sleep is “meterse al sobre,” “to tuck oneself into the envelope;” I always figured it came from people like AHunter3.

Tucked, but loosely, so they don’t feel tucked at all. This provides maximum warmth and maximum maneuverability.

untucked! the toes must be free!

seriously, not only do things have to be untucked, but I often need to have my feet sticking out past the covers and without socks on.

besides which, if there were some great advantage to tucked such as it being really really cold, the end of the bed would have to be much further away, as the part of the blanket near the tucked end is way too tight.
