I do. Sometimes, I scroll down to the mod’s notation instead of reading the whole thread. If a member gets a spanking, I’ll go back and read the juicy parts. It’s entertaining when people are served a slice of justice when they’ve been assholes.
I do, and like Seeker I start at the bottom and work up. Sometimes it’s just that the question has been answered and the tread is degenerating into chaos. Other times someone got spanked, and as long as that someone wasn’t me, I like to observe the process.
WHEW! Oh goodness, yes indeed, I totally open closed threads, even those with titles that I normally wouldn’t have bothered checking out. It’s the Pandora’s Box / Bluebeard’s wife syndrome, I guess!
This is why I love the Dope. (Well, not the only reason why, but one of 'em.) You’re almost certain to discover that you’re not the only weirdo out there who does ___ (fill in the blank with various bizarre behavior).
I open closed threads before I open anything else. Same goes for anything marked TMI, and I *know * it’ll gross me out, but I do it anyway. :smack:
Absolutely. All about keeping on top of board rules & so on.
Read them?
I create them!
How would one know a thread is closed other than by opening it and reading the final message from the mod?
There’s a lock on the envelope icon that gives you the status of the thread. (Left-side of the screen when you’re looking at the list of threads in a forum.)
And yes, I inevitably read them. If they’re long, I also go to the end then read back to the offending parts.

This is off topic, but the question isn’t worth starting a thread, so I hope you all don’t object.
I was reading another thread, and in in one of the posts there appeared the word BANNED beneath the poster’s name. Not Charter Member, not SDSAB. BANNED.
The posters comment was innocuous enough, maybe even sensible for all I can recall.
Apparently “BANNED” doesn’t mean BANISHED because there he was (virtualy, anyway).
So what does BANNED mean in this case?
When a member is banned, the BANNED label is applied to all the posts they’ve ever made. They can’t post anymore.
Then, how do you explain the post below? The thread is running right now in Great Debates, and the OP was: Does anybody believe in Evolution ??
The date of the post, “Yesterday” refers to Friday December 17th.

Your pro-creationist OP makes a common pro-Creationist mistake; it’s OK, lack of knowledge is to be expected from your viewpoint.
Evolution is not a system that includes the creation of matter. It is a scientificly observed phenomenon of species developing into other species. It has nothing to do with life starting, the “Big Bang” theory, or any of a number of things Creationists mindlessly tie to it.
As for proving it to you… if you can’t look at the enormous facts presented in favor of evolution and the complete lack of any competing scientific explanation or theory and make a rational conclusion, then yes, you are brainwashed, but not the way you think you are.
Yes, I’m more likely to look at a thread if it has been closed, out of morbid curiosity. Also, if a member has been banned I’ve been known to search their posts to see why.
I’m not seeing your point. Same deal applies, just like I said. He wasn’t banned at the time he made that post. He is banned now, and the BANNED label is applied to all the posts made previous to his banning, as shown by his post you just quoted. It would appear that he was banned yesterday or today.
Sometimes somebody bumps an old thread and half the posters in it are BANNED. That can be amusing in a macabre kind of way, like watching ghosts yell at each other.
