"Do You Remember Me?"

I’ve had this song going through my head all day, but I can’t for the life of me remember what movie it’s from (I think it’s Disney, though). Does anyone know where “Do You Remember Me?” comes from? It’s on the tip of my brain, but I can’t think of it. It’s a kind of haunting, wistful song.

Give us a few lines from it? I can’t get Sara McLaughlin out of my head.

Here are the lines I can remember:

Do you remember me,
Like I remember you,
Da, Da, Da Da Da Da,
Da, Da, Da Doo.

I can’t even remember the lyrics, just the first two lines. It’s maddening! <g>

Ugh! Striekout! Sorry, Snark!

Hey, you tried, and when you think about it, that’s all we can do is try, unless you’re of Yoda’s philosophy that there is no try, only do or not do, in which case you probably should have tried a little bit harder. (KIDDING!)

I remember you, I’m willing to forgive and forget.

As long as you’re willing, that’s all we can be is willing…

Man, there is no shortage of possibilities there!

I once tried to locate a song like that and I came up with a ton of possibilities and related songs (like “Remember Me” by Journey, “Do you still dream about me” by Night Ranger, etc.) I developed a special fondness for those songs (at the time, I was tracking down a ‘remember me’ song for a specific situation on my life, and was very emotionally susceptible to that type of lyrics)

I could only think of a few possibilities given the little information you had. here’s my beast guess. Let me know if I’m wrong, and I’ll throw out another

UNDER A RAGING MOON
(by Jeff Entwhistle’s band “Left for Life”
also recorded by Roger Daltrey, and others
I don’t know who ewas the original)

In the searchlights
You could see us as we circled around
Down below us
You were screamin’ I could hear the sound
I could see your arms
Reaching up to me

Like a demon
Feel the madness running thru the crowd
We were freedom
From the moment that we hit the ground
And the wild man
He laid the thunder down

Do you remember me?
Like I remember you
In a sea of hands
You came shining thru
In the mist of time
I can see it now

All my life I will remember this
Under a raging moon
For this moment I was born for this
Under a raging moon
Under a raging moon, We were flying there
Under a raging moon, We saw Zion there
It ended all too soon, Under a raging moon

We were out there
When they handed us the rebel’s crown
All the headlines
All they tried to do was tear us down
But the wild man
He didn’t fool around

Do you remember me?
Cuz I remember you
Yeah you won my love
When the dream came true
When my blood ran high
I can hear it now

All my life I will remember this
Under a raging moon
For this moment I was born for this
Under a raging moon
Under a raging moon, We were flying boy
Under a raging moon, It’s worth dying for
It ended all too soon, Under a raging moon

Taking me back to better times
We never read the danger signs
Why are the young… Why are the young so blind?

Do you remember me?
Like I remember you
In a sea of hands
You came shining thru
In the mist of time
I can see it now

All my life I will remember this
Under a raging moon
For this moment I was born for this
Under a raging moon
Under a raging moon, We were flying there
Under a raging moon, We saw Zion there
It ended all too soon, Under a raging moon

Of course, as soon as I find that song and copy the whole thing, somebody already posted it.

Bah.

No, I don’t think that’s the one. I’m almost sure that this is a song from a cartoon movie, probably Disney, and it’s from days of yore so it wouldn’t be a rock song, or even have a beat to it at all. It’s 3/4 time (waltz).

MY GIRL JOSEPHINE
FATS DOMINO

                             Hello Josephine
                             How do you do?
                             Do you remember me baby
                             Like I remember you?
You used to laugh at me
                             And holler hoo-hoo-hoo
I used to walk you home
I used to hold your hand
You used to use my umbrella
                             Every time it rained
You used to cry so much
                             It was a cryin' shame
You used to live over yonder
                             By the railroad track
When it rained you couldn't walk
I used to tote you on my back
Now you tryin' to make believe
It was no days like that
                             Hello Josephine
                             How do you do?
                             Do you remember me baby
                             Like I remember you?
You used to laugh at me
                             And holler hoo-hoo-hoo

I’ve got it! It’s from a Charlie Brown movie (Snoopy Come Home?). Yes! Now I can stop wondering, <g>.

There was a similar song that went

Hey, Hey, Josephene!

Hey hey, Josephene!
How-do you do!
Do your remember me baby?
Like I remember you?
I used to tote your books,
On the way to school.
Do you remember me baby?
Like I remember you?
I used to walk you home,
I used to call you on the phone.
Do you remember me girl?
Like I remember you?

“If You Remember Me” (the correct title, given the lyrics) was a song from “The Champ,” with Jon Voight (sp?) and little Ricky Schroeder.

It was recorded by Chris Thompson, who with the group Night had a modest hit with “Hot Summer Nights” (Stevie Lange on vocals).

I think he might have also been featured on Jeff Wayne’s “War of the Worlds.”
