Do you remember the title of the first topic you made here?

I seems to recall Jerry saying that some, but not all of the archived threads have been restored.

Mine was called “Which is better for the environment - hand dryers or paper towels?”, or something very similar. It’s not really interesting enough to bother searching for, but garnered a good few interesting replies.

Search will only provide 750 references. This was true pre-upgrade, and I guess that hasn’t changed with the new version of vBulletin. If you want to see your first 750 posts, go to Advanced Search and select “Any Date” and sort by “Ascending Order”.

Search says ‘easy ways to make money?’ Ah, the joys of being poor. I’m kinda surprised I’ve only started 68 threads.

I just went to the “List Subscriptions” link in my profile, and then went to the last page to find the first of the threads I had started myself.

My first thread was responding to the Blinded by the Light column, mentioning that it refers to masturbation. Didn’t link to the original column either–a double-auspicious start.

I think mine was something like, “What do you call a person who hates fat people”, or something similar.

It’s still not working. :frowning:

I remember I was mad about Tennis or some such thing. I try not to look back because there are a number of posts of which I’m embarrassed.

Title? No. Subject? Probably

I started a thread wondering whether people who were not Christians ever went around giving talks on the statistical unlikelyhood of the universe supporting human life, and then saying “And therefore my faith is the one true faith and you should believe it too”

Here you go.

Tried, because I cannot remember my first post. Did not seem to work. Hmmm. :dubious:

Cartooniverse

Did you try my “List Subscriptions” technique?

My list of subscriptions doesn’t go back as far as the thread I linked to earlier, which I am still subscribed to.

Weird

Here is my first response. Is glass a liquid?

Here is my first thread. Is there underwater basket weaving?

Here is the Witness Protection Program thread I thought was my first, but didn’t turn up in my search. You see how pathetic the response was.

I can’t find that battery thread at all. Since I lurked so much in the early days, I very quickly come to pretty recent posts. I seriously lurked alot for many years.

Apparently I didn’t lurk long. I’ve been a member since April 2000 and made my first thread on April 9. I didn’t remember what it was so I had to search. Apparently I asked for advice on steeping tea bags such that they don’t end up with a air bubble inside them, which makes them float annoyingly on top of the hot water instead of happily swimming at the bottom.

O yes, it was something to do with ‘what did you become once you grew up?’ because I was having a career dilemma.

And the replies were very helpful, thank you

Nope. Couldn’t get it to work, which is a shame. Now I’m curious !!!

I registered specifically to post a question, “Did Bill Clinton ever really say, ‘I feel your pain’?”

There was a lot less info on the Internet then, and Googling had only turned up one vague reference. So I asked away. Of course, somebody immediately posted the one reference, and that shut off further discussion.

I should have said beforehand, “All I got from googling was this vague reference–does anyone know more?” I learned my lesson.

The quote has since been included in Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations–he said it to ACT UP during the 1992 primary campaign.

“Guns and stuff”, but I can’t find it in my list of threads created.

Looking back at my past threads, it’s pretty clear that I hadn’t bothered with Google or discovered Wikipedia when I started posting.
