What was your first thread?

Looking at my profile* I noticed the option of finding all the threads that I started here on the SDMB (and posts too, but that’s another thread). Like most people, my favorite subject is myself, so I had to click on the link to see what brilliant and eruditic threads (69 in total!) I brought to the SDMB.

Ugh. Perhaps I’m not as brilliant or as eruditic as I thought. :frowning:

Anyway, here are the questions:

What was your first thread? When was the first music video?

Your favorite? Thoughts Upon My Daughters First Month.

Your most successful (# of replies)? So, just what was Jesus’ message?

Your least successful? The SDMB Baby Picture Thread 0, zeeeerrrrrooooo, replies. Not even one to tell me how beautiful my daughter is. :frowning: Not the only one, either: the horrendously titled Author/film/etc. slogans… couldn’t generate a single reply either.

Most embarrassing? I was taken to task for crackin’ wise during movie trailers in Talking during movie=bad. Talking during trailers???

*Click “quick links”, then click “my profile” in case you didn’t know.

What was your first thread? Jake Brakes (well, more about the diesel really)

Your favorite?
Make your “pay my subscription fee” request here It was truly heartwarming to see how many people offered to help out others there.

Your most successful (# of replies)?
That was the subscription one too. Is Nader going to screw up another election? was a distant second.

Your least successful? UK Dopers: I need your advice , Brunell to 'Skins; What happens to Patty? , and dutchboy208 turns 21; In related news, world ends! all got 0 replies.

Most embarrassing? Definitely Insecurity- do you feel taller in a thong?

Awwww, shucks. She is quite the looker, but you knew that already.

Oofy Prosser (I think) once said, “all babies look like fried eggs with legs”. Which is true, really. Yours in the shining exception.

Well, I’ve only started six threads (hey, I’m new), but I’m bored…so…

First: Computer Mouse Problem

Favorite: Declarations, since I never expected so many replies! And it’s still going if you’d like to join in…

Most replies: The Movie Game…also ongoing!

Least successful: Also “Computer Mouse Problem,” though six replies was enough to get the info I wanted (despite the terribly mundane title).

Don’t think I’ve had an embarrassing one yet. Give me time…

First:

Why are chocolate covered almonds curved all over? (08-12-2003 03:24 AM)

Most Popular:

Is it true that Americans pronouce “writer” and “rider” the same? (52 replies)

Why do people seek first editions of books? (36 replies)

I just found out my drunk uncles used to give me alcohol (35 replies)

Least Popular:

Um, I’ve had a few.

I’m surprised to see how many threads I’ve started (mostly in GQ), considering I’ve made little more than 100 posts here.

Favorite and Most Successful:

Dear Euro-turds

Don’t think I’ll ever top it.

That was a funny OP, furt! :thumbs up:

In another board that I frequent we call them Eurocoms because they’re all Communists over there. The boards’ Eurocoms have proudly taken up the banner and title, though. :frowning:

My first post was also my least successful (0 replies) looking for a song

Most sucessful was a variation on the ever-popular Pit-theme of RetailHell. Mine was bitching about children in shops.

I’ve only started something like eight threads. And furt, that was a full-marks rant! Great fun to read.

My first thread was roasted peanuts

My most successful thread was
What songs do you absolutely hate? My only thread to go to 3 pages.
My fave was spooje seethes with anger

But for the most part, my theads have been isely ignored.

:o Gracias, Manx and JohnT.

If anyone wants it, “May you only live long enough to see everyone you have ever loved dragged through the streets of Calcutta by an incontinent elephant overdosing on speed” is still available as a sig …

**What was your first thread? **

First OP on this board:

All the Dark Places 6/2/99

First post on this board, period:

Welcome, 3/12/99

First Straight Dope thread, AOL board:

aol://5863:126/mB:59300:54753

“God is a CAT! A Proof…” 9/6/97

First Staight Dope post, period:

“re: Rape” 8/31/97 (don’t have the link for that one)
Your favorite?

of the threads I started? Hmmm… Non-US Dopers: A Hypothetical Anti-Bush Question, perhaps.

Your most successful (# of replies)?

A current one, surprisingly enough: Running thru minds of women browsing fashion mags: a poll for het females

Your least successful?

That would probably be a 490-way tie. Lots of very forgettable posts that garnered no replies. Also some that IMHO should have gotten replies but didn’t such as this one and this one.

Most embarrassing?

Like I’d put a link to it?!!

First - Greatest Headphone Albums

Your most successful (# of replies) - Battleship Gun Range 135 replies

Least successful - Urban Legend - The Gap

What was your first thread? I pit the Pit (or rather the KTS–lamest thing you’ll ever read)

Your favorite? I don’t know who you are, but tell your friends your new phone number!

Your most successful (# of replies)? So, that’s what the race card looks like…

Your least successful?
The “KTS Pit” one, There are people skiing down the street, and[So much for my bankcard’s vacation…{/url] Zippo Replies.

Most embarrassing?
[url=http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=241180]To my Israeli friend who can’t take a hint](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=247197).

peers Actually, I just listed all but one of my threads. I need to start posting more…

I’ve never started a thread. I’m still mostly in lurk mode, even after shelling out the $4.95.

This is my 100th post. Finally.

I am informed by a kibbitzer that I’m a total chickenshit for not posting a link for “most embarrassing”.

::sigh::

Fingernail Biting [TMI]

:o

My first thread was Am I right to be nervous?

My favorite is Cheering Myself Up because it made me feel better.

My most succesful one was How many Cell Phones Have you Been Through? with 44 replies.

The least succesful was Woman on the contraceptive pill Microgynon 30 with 0 replies.

I’ve not been embarrased by any of my threads. Yet…

First: TV Commercial Question – Help! It had only one response, but I won’t consider it “least successful”, since the one response was the one I needed.

Favorite: My God, I’m not the only insane one! I still occasionally peruse it and get a chuckle.

Most Successful: One-Syllable Challenge: What Do You Do For A Living? (181 posts) OSC II didn’t do as well, but it was a harder topic. Still tinkering with ideas for OSC III.

Least Successful: Typical Nebraska Weather? But I have to think it’s becuse of the highly misleading title.

1st thread? Sci-Fi Guessing Game

fave? Got a few, actually. From airplanes to the Bible, to weird toys, and the turning point of WWII, but one edges them all out just cause I can’t even imagine what my state of mind was when I wrote it - Spawn of Satan bread slicing people!
Most replies? I have 13 with over 100 posts, 5 of those over 200. Captain Buckleberryferry and the crew of “The Ted” -sign up here- had 473 by the time I asked for it’s closing. Predict The Next Poster! had 3379 posts (which surprised me as much as it annoyed the fuckers it annoyed :stuck_out_tongue: )
Least successful? I have 18 with 3 or less replies, including 4 with zero.

Most embarassing? An early one. Which taught me about unintentional racial slurs - MSG - It’s not just for chinamen anymore Within that early first two month period, tho, I had two threads sent to Threadspotting. So, highs and lows can come right on top of each other, postingwise, that is.

1st: Tetris players, eat yer heart out (and damnit, I think that video AND the SMB3 one are legit. For one thing, the author has made a lot of other videos. Second, their proof was a page translated by freaking Altavista Babelfish.)

Favorite: Actually, not one I started, but I enjoyed tearing into cainxinth (no hard feelings, man) in Rape in Hentai… a big fat WTF? . My favorite one I started? The Coolest T-Shirt You Own

Most Replies: TV Shows that apparently, you’re the only person ever to watch 701 posts.

Least Replies: Some post about Subservient Chicken

Most embarassing: They say you can find anything online… I did find some, but it didn’t quite show enough to sate my curiosity. The search continues!

First: Japan Parliament = Diet. Why?

Most Successful: What did your parents almost name you? (my only 3-pager), followed closely by the recently locked Wiping – sit or stand?.

Least Successful: Did Savant ever apologize to Wiles? (GQ) I think she should, but the thread got no replies. I’ve also started a distressingly large number of threads that died with only one reply.

Favorite: Toss-up between You spineless little anal maggot (work rant), a successful and cathartic Pit Rant with a happy ending, and I found out last week I have cancer, in which I found that this place is far, far more than ‘just a message board.’ Oh, and that one had a happy ending, too (one year post-op and still no sign of recurrence).
