When I was a kid, we had an unfitted sheet on the bottom and a duvet with a pieced top and no batting or blanket inside it. That’s it. No top sheet, bedspread, throw, comforter, bedskirt, shams, nothing.
I’m still pretty minimalist, with sheets and a quilt or duvet. Thin cotton blanket on top when the cat is shedding. Sleep under it because the cat is shedding.
