Do you still watch new Simpsons episodes?

Oh, it was the wife. I had heard about it second hand.

Yes. No matter how weird it gets I still find it funny. Part of that is probably because I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t watching them.

I watch (or rather listen) to Simpsons, Family guy, Rick and Morty and some others while I’m driving. As an hgv driver I do that a lot.

I still watch every new episode. I might not get around to it until later in the week, but I do. I don’t rewatch them though, which might explain why I sometimes come across recent episodes I just don’t remember.

Usually when I watch Bob’s Burgers on Hulu, The Simpsons auto-plays after. Sometimes I watch it, sometimes I don’t. The quality seems to have improved the last few years over a lot of the really weak seasons, circa seasons 15 - 25-ish.

In the words of Troy McClure from The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular: “Yes, the Simpsons have come a long way since an old drunk made humans out of his rabbit characters to pay off his gambling debts. Who knows what adventures they’ll have between now and the time the show becomes unprofitable?”

That episode aired 27 years ago.

I still watch—and usually laugh at—the new episodes.

Gave up maybe 3+ years ago. Don’t even watch the old episodes anymore.

The show just got way too sad. I’ll stick with my memories. But …

“Thanks to television, I can’t remember what happened eight minutes ago. No, Really I can’t. It’s a serious problem.”

Yep, every week. I have them set to auto-download on my torrent program so they show up in my queue.

I don’t think the show is bad. It’s still the same level of funny it has been for the past decade. I’m more invested in what the Belcher family is doing over on Bob’s Burgers, but they are still new enough to do new stories. The Simpsons is just throwing out Simpsons humor week after week and that’s fine.

I was a regular watcher as late as Season 14. But it started to feel like a bit of a chore after that, and my interest really began to wane. I checked a list of Season 19 episodes and didn’t recognize even one.

Just the Treehouse of Horrors. I also saw the recent one with Quilloughby (!Morrisey) played by the ubiquitous Benedict Cumberbatch and it sucked.

I still watch most new episodes. Some of them are still pretty good (though not as good as in the glory days), but occasional others are downright torture to watch. This latter category includes the ones where Lisa gets on her high horse over some issue or other. The shows are a whole lot better when she acts like a typical 8-year-old rather than some social justice crusader.

I began checking out around the turn of the millennium. They were still turning out some gems during that time, but 2000 and 2001 also delivered some of the worst episodes of the series, including Saddlesore Galactica, Homer the Moe, and Homer vs. Dignity (the panda-rape episode).

I would still tune in every now and then if I happened to be home on Sunday night until about 2003. The last really decent episode I can remember watching was “I’m Spelling as Fast as I Can,” which aired during season 14. In it, Lisa goes to a national spelling bee, but is then asked by George Plimpton to take a dive. It also featured a subplot about Homer becoming obsessed with Krusty Burger’s version of the McRib. In my mind, this episode is the series finale, and everything that came after is fan faction.

Also, the other day I was thinking about the fact that I was around Bart’s age when the show started. Now, I’m older than Homer (assuming Homer is supposed to be in his mid to late 30s).

ehh i checked out when they moved to Thursdays mostly other than an occasional episode …

I don’t know what kind of weirdness is going on in your market, but they still air on Sunday nights like they have for all 732 seasons.

I think the show aired for a short time on Thursdays in the early '90s. I seem to recall there a big to-do about Bart Simpson going head to head against Bill Cosby.

Hm. So they did. But they have been back on Sunday since season 6, 27 years ago.

When I lived in VT in the early 90s, there was no FOX so I could only watch new episodes on Mondays, I think, on Montreal channels.

I’ve been showing my 12 year old some of the best…I just showed him the Frank Grimes ep and Deep Space Homer…they’re still funny enough, but man…so many references going over his head.

I don’t actively seek out new Simpsons episodes to watch, but when I catch one, I enjoy it. I still chuckle at its irreverent humor, but mostly I like it for the nostalgia. The Simpsons are like putting on a comfortable pair of slightly outdated slippers. They feel good, but I wouldn’t wear them out in public.

Few things are as good as they were during their salad days.

Is the Ford Mustang as iconic and stylish a car today as it was when the pony car launched?

No, but it’s still a decent, stylish car.

Are the Rolling Stones as good a band today as they were when they first performed in America?

No, but they still put on a memorable show.

Was Mozart as good a pianist and composer at the end of his life as when he first played to royalty?

…well, yes, but that’s beside the point. He was Mozart, after all.
