Do you think $1040 is too much for haircuts for guys?

I have you beat; I haven’t even spent ONE dollar* on haircuts in my entire life, I’ve always had it cut at home with clippers, not that I’d spend much anyway even if I did go to a barber since I only get it cut 4 times a year.

*Not including the cost of the clipper or electricity, the latter which is negligible, or when my mother used to do it; in any case, less than the cost of two $20 haircuts.

Also, why the hate about head hair but not beards/mustaches (if I go more than 2-3 days without shaving, it starts to ITCH and I get a rash)? Of course, men have a common problem where their hair disappears so I assume that is the reason.

get it done professionally you could be screwy with it.

Do you think it’s too much? I mean, you must really be thinking a lot about haircuts; what with two different threads in a few days asking basically the same question. If you don’t think it’s too much, then it’s not too much. Duh.

I certainly would never spend that much on haircuts but then my opinion isn’t worth squat anyway, seeing as how I shave my head. And why do you hate guys with shaved heads? Did you get an Atomic Wedgie by one before? If it makes you feel better, I’d never give you an Atomic Wedgie.

Your hair grows fast enough to need a cut every week?

Hear, hear! Ten dollars, three or four times a year. Nothing fancy, just a downtown barber shop, the kind that still have Field and Stream magazine in the waiting area. Basic hatchet-job cut. Who the hell cares? The finest sculpture possible is gone in two weeks

I’ve spent more than that in razorblades over the last 10 years.

My DH shaves his head (he says it’s more comfortable under a hard hat), and usually goes over his head every day or two while he’s shaving his face anyway.

Sounds like how my husband functioned before the hard hat became an issue. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s your money to throw away as you want. It is yours, isn’t it? Personally, I get my hair cut 3-4 times a year and I pay $8. So, $24 to $32 a year for me is about normal.

Well, there’s mostly short like I have where half an inch or 3/4 of an inch looks about the same, and totally shaved, where a day can make the difference between shiny smooth and stubbular.

That’s practically my schedule as well. I let my hair grow until I can’t stand “it” anymore. “It” can either be my hair bothering me or my wife telling me I need to get a haircut.

Me? 4 X $25 = $100 per year.

$30 for a pair (why are they referred to as a “pair”??) of clippers, hopefully that lasts about a year= $30/year. Although I probably replace the clippers at least once during that year, seeing as how I shave my head everyday (my hair grows insanely fast and I like to keep it short and clean), so I’ll put that figure at $50-60/year.

Honey? When did you move to Tel Aviv?

I’m callin borderline OCD on this one…

Many years ago, I bought a clipper for $30. Two or three times a year, I stick on the 1/4 inch attachment, and just go all over. It works for me: Even if I went to a barber, that’s about the only thing that can be done with my hair, anyway. If I let it grow out, I get a Caucaso.

Caucaso?

Ah, I’ve never heard the term Caucaso, but I like it. Is there an Asio option as well?

I assume he has curly hair and he’s thought up a much less offensive term for what I only know (in private) as a “Jew 'fro”: an afro on a white person with curly hair.

I spend about $60 on haircuts, $15 every 3 months. It’s such a minor expense I realise now that I didn’t even consider it in my budgeting on Mint!

It is too much for me to spend - because haircuts don’t mean that much to me.

But since they do to you, and it is your money - then I say no. (Hopefully you can afford it)
