I have always thought that Maria Shriver was very beautiful. The high cheekbones, the green eyes, the gorgeous hair…not just pretty, but beautiful…almost model-like. But now that Arnold’s love child story is in the forefront, I have heard numerous people, especially men, comment that they think she is hideous (I am female btw). Some think she “looks like a horse” or is “severe” looking.
I realize that beauty is subjective and is in the eye of the beholder, but I always considered her to be very classically attractive and am surprised that anyone would think she is ugly. I would love to hear what others think about this.
No. She only entered my personal radar once she was linked to Arnold, and I didn’t find her skeletal appearance attractive. I also am not attracted to long faces in general, though I hate the term “horse face”. That’s usually said by people whose own faces could be used to scare children into eating their vegetables.
Hmm. I always had it in my head that she was an attractive person, but upon opening this thread, I did a Google Image search, and now I see that I don’t think she’s attractive at all (although I don’t think she’s “hideous,” either).
I’m wondering now why I ever had my initial impression of her.
i think she’s pretty good looking. i wouldn’t go so far as to say she’s superhot, especially on the celebrity scale. i also hesitate to settle and call her “pretty” because “pretty” to me connotes cuteness reserved for the natalie portman’s and kristen bell’s of the world. so yeah, as far as civilians go, she’s a solid 8, maybe even 9 when she was in her prime, and in the right lighting.
the problem is that people love to only have a hot box and a not box to tick off when it comes to celebrities with no sliding scale and you just cannot play that game with older women. on an attractiveness spectrum, i think shriver is still on the right side of the attractive scale. however it seems like unless you’re helen mirren, there is just no room for 50+ hotties as far as gossip rags (or bloggers) are concerned.
She used to be quite attractive. Now with increasing age and the resulting collagen loss in the face that leads to a more drawn look, it doesn’t flatter her very angular bone structure.
I think she’s “attractive”, in quotes because most of her facial features are very model-like (I’d say she looks vaguely like Christie Brinkley), but her main flaw is that her face is not very symmetrical, so she seems a little “off”.
I think women who are happy are attractive. She just never seems to be happy. She comes across to me as a person who has been under stress for so much of her life that it has morphed her image.
I think that is where the ‘severe’ description comes from. If I walked into a room with only Maria in it, would I expect to be greated warmly? Would I find a happy person?
No.
I do not know her, but I can usually read people pretty well. I read her as an extremely uptight person with little relaxation available to her.
High cheek bones are one thins. Maria is just too sharp boned. Her facial features are way too course. Jane Fonda has a similar look. Some like it. I don’t. Of course lately she has had a mean look too for some reason.
I just now did a Google image search. The pics I found of her, IMHO, range from “not my type, but I can certainly see how some people might find her attractive” to “downright creepy.”
(Of course, still photos don’t always give you a good indication of how attractive or charismatic someone is in person.)
I’ve only been aware of her since the late 1990s, and I’ve always referred to her as “Skelator”. She is hideously ugly. That said, she is Sargent and Eunice’s daughter, and I loved both of them dearly. But Eunice was kinda an ugly dog too.
