Do you think R. Kelly will ever face consequences?

Maybe it’s just because I live under a rock, but I didn’t realize half the shit R. Kelly had done until I watched Stephanie Harlowe’s videos on the subject.

Part 1: R Kelly: When A Woman's Fed Up (Part One) - YouTube
Part 2: R Kelly: When A Woman's Fed Up Part Two - YouTube

In my defense, his music style was never my thing, and as a whole I tend not to be in with celebrity news and gossip. But the whole thing I watched these videos, I felt in shock. I know rich people can get away with shit most of us never could, but Jesus Christ, everything he’s done and STILL IS DOING just makes my stomach turn.

I feel so much for any of the girls / young women who are manipulated by this waste of space and oxygen. He is so fundamentally useless as a person. I hope he gets drunk, wanders into the woods, gets mauled by bears and dies a horrible, drawn out, agonizing death. I honestly wish the absolute worst on this man, and he hasn’t actually killed anyone.

I’m not quite sure why you have your panties in a twist… he’s currently in jail awaiting trial on 18 Federal counts, including child pornography, kidnapping, etc… It’s not like he’s living in his mansion, while awaiting trial.

Personally, I find it extremely unlikely that he’ll skate on this; I suspect the Feds have him dead to rights on many of those, and with a post #metoo jury, he’ll spend a LONG time in prison as a result.

This is more appropriate for the Pit than IMHO.

Moving thread from IMHO to the BBQ Pit.

Yeah, he will face consequences. No doubt. And as long as Kim Kardashian doesn’t get in Trump’s ear, he’ll do time.

Is there a summary of the videos?

The wiki article I linked talks about the basics. The videos go a lot more in-depth about things the victims have said. She references a documentary called “Surviving R. Kelly”, which was the inspiration behind her own videos.

Good. I hope it’s finally enough, but I honestly have my doubts. He’s gotten away with so much and for so long. Could do without the ‘panties in a twist’ comment, though.

You start Pit-worthy threads, you get Pit-worthy responses.

Cool, so we all have the authority to decide a thread anywhere can be treated like a pit thread?

Let’s put it this way. If you start a rude, vitriolic thread, don’t expect to get polite responses.

This isn’t a criticism of the OP by the way; I agree R. Kelly is a crappy person who deserves rudeness and vitriol. No judgement there. But objecting to people who respond to your post in a similar manner is hypocritical.

I think he’ll (deservedly) get a long prison sentence, but only because he’s black. He would get a much lighter sentence if he was white.

I don’t agree. It would only be hypocritical if the OP had attacked another poster outside the Pit, which is what bump did. It would only be hypocritical if the OP threadshit, like bump did, acting like the OP was beneath him.

There’s a difference between vitriol towards an external situation or person and vitriol towards the person you’re talking to. Consider you were talking to your friend about how how a child molester is horrible and should fuck off and die. Would you consider it equally appropriate for him to come back with “You’re a fucking moron for giving a shit?”

Vitriol directed externally is not considered equally rude to vitriol expressed to someone who is part of the conversation. I do not see what bump did as equivalent to what the OP did. (Personally, I think it’s mild as a Pit invective, but crosses the line for outside the Pit.)

As for the OP: what more is to be said? Yeah, the guy is horrible and skated by for way too long, but they may have finally caught him. So, yeah, he may finally do time.

But it should not have taken so fucking long for it to happen. We’ve had the proof for a while.

Someone I’m not sure will have anything happen to him is Chris Brown. At least shit like Polanski had to flee the country, but Brown is still here, and even has fans who say they would let him beat them up.

I think its sad he destroyed his career… He started out pretty good (His first 2 solo albums are the only GOOD ones he ever put out)

Quite sad… Yes he will be held accountable…

Disagree. He’ll get off light, because he’s a ‘celebrity’.

I think, if he ends up in prison, there’s a good chance he’ll just build himself a sex cult there. Cause it’s who he is and how he functions.
Charisma, celebrity, money, street cred, he’ll make out just fine, I expect.

I didn’t put it in the Pit, though… I’d hoped to avoid most of the audience here, but that didn’t exactly work out.

O.J. Simpson would disagree

I think the color green is more important than black or white.

I have seen the Surviving R. Kelly documentary and some of the other videos. A big problem prosecutors have had is getting any of his girls to testify against him. Even when he was in court, there were mobs of girls outside the courtroom holding up signs of support for him, I think that is where he picked up a couple of his 2nd and 3rd generation girls.

Dude has some kind of charisma to get that kind of loyalty from the people he treats as slaves. Even his employees and friends stay loyal to him.
