Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP) is a baseball simulation game where you take on the role of a General Manager. You draft the players, develop minor league talent, trade players with other owners, sign free agents, recruit coaches, set lineups and pitching rotations and manage the team’s finances. You decide who gets to make the team and who goes back to the minors.
The Unofficial SDMB Out Of The Park League is finishing up it’s 13th season and we have an opening. The team that is available is the Walla Walla Federal Duck. Walla Walla finished the current season with a record of 81-81 in third place in the Zotti League.
Walla Walla (as the new owner, you’ll be able to rename/relocate the team during the offseason) is a team with some strengths and some weaknesses.
Among the strengths are 29-year-old shortstop Fred Smith, who led the Zotti League in batting with a .344 average (although you have to re-sign him quickly – he’s a free agent after the playoffs!), LF Christopher Moss (who hit 37 homers this season), veteran SS Lincoln Rosetti, 30-year-old ace starter Fernando Estrada (18-7, 2.50) and reliever Henry Ringler (who saved 29 games last year).
Up and coming players include 18-year-old starter Michael Montgomery (7-2, 2.09 in A ball), 1B Lindsay Walker (1st round pick this year) and 2B Stefan Cienfuegos (.309 in A ball).
Among the weaknesses – Walla Walla could probably use another starter or two, some upgrades in the infield and a better bench.
