If I have cold feet at bedtime (which happens fairly often), I’ll wear socks for the first 5 minutes or so, then remove them after I’ve warmed up. Occasionally I’ll conk out first, though.
On a very cold night, I wear slipper socks. Otherwise, no.
Forgot to mention this earlier. One time I had a really bad cough at the tail end of an illness. Standing, I was fine but as soon as I laid down, I’d start coughing and it would last for hours. After a few nights my wife found a homespun coughing remedy online- slather the bottoms of your feet with Vick’s Vapo-Rub, put on socks, and go to bed. It was supposed to make you stop coughing.
At that point I would have tried anything, so I gamely pasted the bottoms of my feet with the smelly stuff, pulled on a pair of socks, and laid down. For the next hour I nearly went crazy from the very odd and quite unsettling sensation of Vick’s cooling and heating my feet, combined with the very uncomfortable feeling of having socks on in bed, especially since the rest of me was naked as per the norm, while coughing all the while. Fuck that, I gave it an hour, I’m done. I walked on my heels into the bathroom (to keep from squishing the Vick’s onto the rug), washed that shit off, and went back to bed. I still coughed, but at least I wasn’t also going insane from the discomfort to my feet.
So even that night I didn’t wear socks.
Always.
I know I’m a freak in that I keep my feet covered at all times, except when I’m in the shower and whatnot. And so, I always sleep with socks on. I don’t go so far as to sleep with shoes on, but I will put on slippers to go to bathroom should I need to do so in the middle of the night.
But what gets me is how many people are so vehemently in the other camp. Weird. I’d figure most people wouldn’t care either way.
When my feet are cold, I do. Otherwise, no.
I can’t stand having anything on my feet whenever I’m in the house . . . especially when I’m sleeping. No blanket either.
My partner, on the other hand, has to be all bundled up in bed, including woolen socks (sometimes 2 pairs) and a knitted cap.
My husband (who doesn’t read this board) does things your way.
I only wear socks outside the house; that is, I am always barefoot in the house, including when I sleep.
(when I was a kid, I would even often go outside barefoot, leading to several nasty encounters with broken glass - ouch)
If I fall asleep at work, I’m not about to bother taking off my socks, so sometimes, I guess.

Really, I don’t fall asleep at work; that was a joke.
I’ll generally wander around the house in socks, then get into bed and wiggle them off during the night when I get too warm or they feel too constricting.
I fight with the blankets too. :eyeroll:
Sometimes, when it’s cold. We don’t run the heater much at night during the winter (we’re in the SF Bay Area, so it doesn’t get really cold) so I’ll sometimes wear socks to bed. It’s not a regular thing, though, and definitely not when it’s not cold.
