Good news, Doctor Who 50th will be in theaters. Bad news, its 2 days late. Unless you’re one of the lucky sods that lives in the 11 favored cities.
The lucky 11 cities get to see it on Nov 23. The other 300 locations Nov 25.
I was excited and planned to buy a ticket. But 2 days late? I’m not sure it’s worth it. I’ll watch it on tv and also DVR it. Tickets in my city are $12.50
Odd, that first link works for me. You should see a Doctor Who page with a toolbar that has Details, The Doctor, Event Buzz, Theater Locations, Related Events.
You can click any of those toolbar choices for information. You can click on a theater and preorder the ticket.
I’d guess that this will sell out at many theaters.
It’s a big showing. I’ve never seen any tv show get rolled out into this many theaters. I wish they could have all shown it on Nov 23. But, Sat. nights are big nights for movie goers. I guess they weren’t willing to reserve space for a tv show. They can make more money selling movie tickets on a Sat night.
I’m tempted to go. I’d enjoy seeing it on a big screen. I’d still watch it on tv Sat night. There’s no way I could wait.
Why would I want to see a TV show in a theater? I can barely stand going to the theater to watch movies anymore, people are so obnoxious and prices so ridiculous.
This - and I can’t watch 3-d, it is an instant migraine trigger. I am sure that the theater doesn’t want me vomiting down the back of the person sitting in front of me.
How about the original version’s premiere (which was the TV version with a slight change to the ending, IIRC)? (The one thing I remember about the original BG premiere was, it was on ABC at the same time the Jessica Lange King Kong remake was on NBC and the Emmys were on CBS (with, I think, Alan Alda commenting that this showed how important the other two networks really considered the Emmys) - and all three were interrupted for live coverage of the Camp David Accord signing.)
Speaking of premieres, I wonder if the DW 50th Anniversary will be delayed 90 seconds (apparently not five minutes, as the popular version of the story goes) because of coverage of the 50th anniversary of the JFK shooting…
No commercials? Have you been to a movie theater this century?
Granted, there aren’t commercial interruptions, but there damn sure are a lot of commercials before the show starts. Tis why I bring an MP3 player with me on the rare occasion I go.
