Doctor Who news (not spoilery)

Every year the BBC does a telethon called Children in Need. Two years ago the show featured a short extra clip of Doctor Who - covering the initial reaction of Rose to the newly-regenerated Doctor.

This year they are doing something that seems a little more ambitious: the return of the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, and a script by Steven “Blink” Moffat. It’s not known how long it will be, or where it fits into the timeline but I’m pretty excited to see this!

Wow - Peter Davidson has aged rather well.

Cool news, and what a great picture! Thanks for sharing, hadn’t heard this.

Another picture. This had been rumored for awhile, since Sylvester McCoy let it slip a month or so back…I absolutely can’t wait!

I hope it’s a full episode, at least. Two minutes is too short for something like this.

More importantly, the celery seems to have aged well also.

Just a bump for this now that it has shown - the BBC has upped to Youtube here:

There are some funny lines in it. My favourite is probably the Fifth Doctor’s reaction to the new look TARDIS interior:

“You’ve changed the desktop theme haven’t you? What’s this one - Coral? It’s even worse than the Leopardskin!”.

Here’s another link if my first one is UK-restricted

I thought it was brilliant and quite sweet. I’m not familiar with the Fifth Doctor so I had to enlist my husband who just about fell out of his seat with glee and confirmed that he was very much in character. The confidential was quite adorable as well…so many grown men squealing like 11 year old fanboys.

Loved the “desktop theme” line, and got a very hearty laugh at the “No beard this time…well, he has a wife.” How do they get away with this stuff?

Yes, that’s the line that completely killed me.

Thanks for posting this!

“You’re a fan!” heh.

This made my day. I’ve loved Peter Davison since I was five years old.

“Hey, I’m the Doctor, I can save the universe using a kettle and some string! And look at me, I’m wearing a vegetable!”

Okay, why did Doctor No. 5 wear a stick of celery?

Fantastic - Peter Davison will always be my 2nd favourite Doctor (after Tom Baker). I’ve been a big fan ever since he played Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small. Nice to see him back in uniform again…

The Doctor’s Celery

It must be a British Thing.
After all, they invented a language they cannot peak.

Charming and sly. That Stephen Moffatt gets it.

Davison looked great! I started with Tom Baker but loved Davison too, so he wasn’t “my” doctor but very close to it.

Is YouTube broadband only now? I try to load it, I get the YouTube page for a few moments, then my window blanks out.

This was great! I thought I knew Peter Davison, but did not remember the celery. And when I researched my childhood memories, I found out that I had been wrong. Apparently, my first Doctor was the seventh one.

The “beard” line and the brainy specs, heh! I [heart] Stephen Moffat. Now to resume waiting for Christmas…
