Doctor Who Season Season 11

I am the Morax
I leak from the trees.

But I still learned it was a ducking not a dunking stool. Ignorance reduced!

I think I really do need to use closed captioning with this show in particular.

^ I like this.

Closed captioning has its limits, though.

Anyone else have an issue with the background music for Doctor Who being up too loud? I can’t think of any other show where I have this problem.

So much was wrong with this episode. Becca cut down the tree herself? She’s a landowner, she’s got people to do that. And she says, “As King James writes in his Bible, ‘You shall not suffer a witch to live.’” No, she would say God said that. The king just arranged for the translation. (She could’ve mentioned the king’s writings against witchcraft instead.)

And the king is gallivanting around the countryside with only one guard to hunt down witches? No, again, he had people for that. And I think he’d be more afraid of losing his crown if he wasn’t around to keep an eye on things.

And where was the village vicar in this episode?

She turned you into a newt?!

I got better.

I’m starting to wish they had cast Michelle Gomez as the Doctor instead of Jodie Richardson: there are times when the Doctor needs to step up, be arrogant and not let herself be pushed around by a punch of chimps, and that episode was one of them. I get that they’re going for a kinder, gentler Doctor, but there are times when Richardson’s diffidence becomes ineffectuality. If you can’t stop the murder of an old lady by a mob before your very eyes, what are you doing being the Doctor?

Weirdest typo for Whittaker I’ve ever seen.

Maybe thinking of Joely Richardson?

Yeah, why did I type that? I think I had Miranda Richardson in my head as that sort of whimsically demented female authority figure. She would have been a great Doctor.

That episode was both weird…and kind of great.

You know what, the is oddly a perfect summary of it.

I was expecting a troll, creepy goblin dude was a bit of a letdown.

It is and the best episode Jodie Whittaker has been in.

I would say second for me, I really enjoyed the Rosa Parks episode. But Rosa Parks is one of my heroes so that probably add a lot to it.

Still waiting for a well done episode with either Tesla or Theodore Roosevelt. Actually, the Doctor probably wouldn’t get along with Teddy at all, Teddy loved his guns.

Tesla could wander in for whatever reason they want to come up with, fix something for the Doctor in the Tardis and have some other fun. Maybe show her how to use the sonic to set up oscillations to take down some looming stronghold.

I have to admit, it may be because the sound wasn’t up loud enough, but I totally got lost between the “shove everyone else through the mirror” scene and the “Grace is a frog” scene.

Joy to the world. All the boys and girls.

The little corner of mirror-Norway was part of an entire universe created by a being who just wanted humans to live in it, so tempted some over. But its proximity to another dimension caused instability.

The being chose to present itself as a frog because the shape pleased it.

The Doctor was so overwhelmed to make friends with a Universe creator she was reluctant to leave herself.

The frog had no ill intention, and the imminent destruction of the Universe, and all Universes, was just an accidental side-effect.

It was a bit weird, really, but until the frog I really enjoyed it. If the frog had instead been a mysterious robed horned spiritual priest or something more god-like I’d be happier. As it was, the big ideas felt a bit undermined.

Or a guy with a curly perm in a white leasure suit.
