It seems to me that each thread doesn’t really warrant enough discussion for a new one each episode. I figured I’d just make a megathread for Episode 5 onwards. Preferably discussion of old episodes should go here too. The spoiler rules still apply, spoilers for an episode should be tagged until it airs on the US West Coast.
I think almost every episode so far has generated more than 100 posts—don’t you think that’s enough? If we chunk all those posts into one single thread, it’s going to be hard to look through it to find discussion of one specific episode later on…
Agreed. I can’t think of a show that would be less suited by a megathread. 100 replies is pretty good and better than most single-episode threads.
I will fourth the point that each episode has a ton of discussion.
I make the Supernatural season threads. Those episodes were only getting less than 10 discussion points when I started doing that. Doctor Who is still pulling way more than that.
Fifth’ded. (Actually, I think it’s fourth’ded; I’m not agreeing w/ the OP, after all.) I’m not a fan of the megathreads in general, as finding where discussion of a particular episode begins/ends is impossible, especially if you’ve missed a week or two and want to avoid spoilers. But aside from that, each of the episode threads has been at least two pages, if not three or four. They’re a bit slow-burny, with the threads staying active most of the week (and Robots of Sherwood, for reasons not entirely apparent to me as I’ve stopped checking it, on into the next week), but they generate plenty of posts.
Yeah, a megathread for Doctor Who makes no sense. The previous episodes have generally been 3 pages each. How much discussion do you *want *for each episode!?
I don’t want to be a jerk, but I am going to go ahead and create a thread for tonight’s episode. If the mods would like to merge this into it, so be it. Again, I don’t mean to be a dick about it, but I think several of us would like a separate thread.
Probably about 1000 posts, I’d figure. I guess I’m just used to SA where they switched to the megathread format last week and it ended up working a lot better.
Whatever, we’ll just keep doing weekly threads.
I rarely get to watch the new episode until a day or two later. Tonight, for instance, I’m watching the FSU football game live, and I’ll catch the good Doctor tomorrow afternoon sometime.
Personally, I’d prefer separate threads so I can still discuss the episodes I’ve seen without worrying about spoilers for the one I haven’t caught up to yet.
Dude, look at the front page of Cafe Society. There’s precisely one thread there that’s gotten over a thousand replies, and that one was started in 2009.
