Doctor Who: The End of Time - SPOILERS!

I always felt sorry for him. All he’s trying to do is get back into our universe made of matter.

I kind of like Simm’s Master. It seems like ever since Doctor Who has come back most episodes are like horror movies. I think a dangerous but upbeat villain helps keep the show from getting too dark.

I adore Simm’s Master completely. But he already said he would not be back, so if Moffat does want to have the Master return, it’s going to have to be the regenerated version.

Oh, I didn’t realize that.

The Doctor felt sorry for him too, but (1.) Omega was incurably barking mad; and (2.) both times he tried to reenter our universe it placed the entire universe in danger of destruction.

Have you played Charades? I’m tapping my nose.

Er, not that other Doctor Who writers had even passing familiarity with continuity. The great thing about playing with time is that what you do may not affect the path you were previously following, but you and another you are now following different paths. :stuck_out_tongue:

Haven’t seen it yet, but Jack would TOTALLY shoot first. Loads of fun at parties, but he’s not a nice guy.

I’ve always wondered though, if the doctor wouldn’t have interfered the second time and let Omega’s process go through to completion, would he have been successful?

I like this rumor, so I will now doom it, by hoping it’s true.

Regarding the mysterious Time Lady, here’s the word of God (or Satan, in the eyes of some of the crabbier fans):

“I like leaving it open, because then you can imagine what you want. I think the fans will say it’s Romana. Or even the Rani. Some might say that it’s Susan’s mother, I suppose. But of course it’s meant to be the Doctor’s mother”.

In Torchwood, Jack would shoot first. In Doctor Who, the Doctor would stop him with a word and a withering glance. (We are talking about shooting as in firing a gun right? I mean, an actual weapon… oh, never mind.)

This may be a stupid question, but how can he say both that the lady’s identity is open and that she’s the Doctor’s mom in the same sentence?

I count five sentences, but I take your point;)

What he means is that it’s not “canon”. While he, personally, may have thought of her as the Doctor’s mother while writing the script, there’s no way of knowing that from watching the programme. Future writers could, if they chose to bring her back or refer to her, legitimately make her anyone they like: she may turn out to have been Romana, or Susan, or someone else entirely. I’m sure that Russell himself, if he were staying with the programme, would happily reveal her to be someone other than the Doctor’s mother if he came up with a better idea

Oh, gotcha. She was intended to be his mom, but she could be written to be someone else.

I just assumed her to be his mother when watching the show, though I have relatively little familiarity with the classic stories & characters, so I had no idea if that was even possible or not. But as a viewer of the new series, that’s what it looked like to me.

I’d presumed she was supposed to be his wife, from the way he pointedly looked at Donna and her husband leaving the church. ETA, although now it’s been pointed out to me, it would make sense if the two Time Lord holdouts were the Doctor’s parents.

Not at all. Though on video he is a one-off, he’s continued to play the Eighth Doctor until the present. He belongs.
