Does a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter like this exist?

Hi,

I’m looking for a 2.5mm to 3.5mm stereo headphone adapter (to be plugged into a cell phone with music playing capabilities) but I’d like to not miss out on the headset functionality as well. I’m envisioning something that plugs in and has a microphone + button dongle on a fairly long cord into which you can plug in your own 3.5mm stereo headphones.

I know next to nothing about cell phones but check this out:

A discussion on another board (which I found via Google - I don’t have any affiliation with that board) about the sort of thing you are looking for.

I think whether or not this exists depends on what phone you have.

Why do you need such a long cord? isn’t your headset cord long enough? If that’s the case, i suggest you go for the short adapter and a five- or six-foot 2.5mm extension cable.

I don’t need a long cord, but my favorite headphones have like a 12" long cable (they’re designed for an extension). It would be ideal if I could plug in a single cable at that point which had a microphone, a button, and a cord long enough to reach my belt with a 2.5mm plug. The one I linked to will have the microphone 3" away from the phone, which isn’t all that helpful.
