I have a Motorola V360 phone that doubles as an MP3 player. Music can either be played through the mono-speaker on the phone itself, or the included Motorola headset can be plugged in. However, the phone came with a small adapter that would allow me to plug in regular sized MIDI devices (like any walkman headphones or computer speakers or whatever) but none of these devices will actually work. (I assume the adapter is for other Motorola headsets only)
Is there any adapter or firmware mod out there that would allow me to force my phone to play sounds through that port no matter what was attached? I mean, I think it’d be really cool to plug the phone into some PC speakers or an amp or something and use it as a full blown music player. The quality couldn’t be any worse than doing the same with an iPod or something.
Yes, the phone came with an adapter exactly like that. Unfortunately a regular pair of stereo headphones or computer speakers will not work through that adapter. I assume this has something to do with the fact that Motorola headsets have a button on them that allow you to pick up the phone so there may be some sort of two-way communication that must be present for the phone to recognize that a headset is plugged in.
I’m looking for a way to circumvent that. I understand that there may be some soldering involved or something if no actual adapter exists.
Does that adapter let you listen to music with regular headphones? If it does not I would go back to where I got the phone and ask the people there how to use the adapter that came with the phone.
No, like I said before, a regular pair will not work with the included adapter. I think it is for special Motorola headsets. That’s the whole point of my question, is how do I force the phone to make use of regular headphones or whatever is plugged into it.
