Does anybody else get TOO excited by a particular subject to start reading it?

PLEASE NOTE: IT CAN HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PORN OR ANY OTHER SEXUAL CONTENT.
See I constantly scan certain items (particularly anything tech related) in books or magazines that I want to read.

Most people say that enthusiasm is the no.1 factor when it comes to studying something, since it enables you to have the passion and the persistence to go at it long after you’ve put the book down.

I think for many of us it’s more about having the energy or the willpower or the sheer excitement of studying something that we really need.
But see I’m the opposite. I’m kinda exciteable by nature.

So when I scan something I am really interested in knowing about, I’m almost too excited by the idea of what that knowledge will give me as opposed to actually reading it in-depth.
Anybody else have this problem (if you wanna call it that), and any suggested fixes?

I kind of know what you mean. Sometimes I’ll read material trying to get right to the absolute core of the information I’m trying to absorb. As a result I find I can’t read fast enough and the information isn’t flowing quickly enough into my head. I begin to scan and skip entire sectons just looking for key words and phrases. Often, I’ll just put it down if frustration and come back to it later when I’m calmer and more relaxed.
