Does ANYBODY out there think Jimmy Fallon & Horatio Sanz are funny?

Specifically I’m asking if you think it’s funny when they can’t get through a sketch because they’re snickering too hard. Evidently they think they’re the next Conway & Korman, but they’re not; they come off more like two obnoxious 8th graders who think they’re cooler than dolphin shit and don’t care that they’re ruining the class play with their smug giggling. There is absolutely no way that either of them could make it as a stage actor and even movie/TV producers would have to get pissed when the constant retakes started to affect the budget.

Fallon, who does have a talent for impressions but that’s about it, is leaving SNL which I don’t think will hurt the show at all. (I think he has the same core fan group as John Stevens, which is responsible for his otherwise inexplicable popularity.) Sanz is one of those actors who literally makes me switch channels when he’s the main character in the sketch because they’re usually that painful and, since he doesn’t have Fallon’s looks, I’m at a loss as to his popularity. Invariably I want to slap both of them when they ruin a sketch because it’s grossly unfair to the other actors and to the writers.

None of this is to in any way imply that I don’t want to see Fallon nekkid.

So your take- Fallon & Sanz: the new Conway & Korman or talentless prettyboy hack and his fat-joke stooge?

I don’t see much of SNL aside from Comedy Central reruns, but based on that I agree with you: they suck.

I think they’re funny.

They’re funny, in the “peculiar” sense of the word, but, in my opinion, not at all in the “humerous” sense of the word.

They have their moments, but even at their worst, they are 100,000,000,000,000 times better than Tracey Morgan.

I think Jimmy Fallon is OK on Weekend Update. But usually I’m distracted by Tina Fey’s spectacular hotness.

Horatio Sanz is a poor imitation of Chris Farley, who himself was a poor imitation of John Belushi. Ten bucks says Horatio dies of a coke overdose in a few years.

No. They both suck arse. I have nothing more to say on the subject.

That is almost verbatim what I was going to say… I like weekend update and Tina Fey is hot.

I do.

I liked them much more when they were new but yeah I still crack up at their silliness. I dunno why everyone hates Horatio so much, I think he is nothing like Chris Farley and doesn’t deserve to be lumped in like that.

I like Jimmy Fallon. Ditto on Weekend Update since it’s the only part worth watching anymore. I usually tune in at about 11pm to see that and then I’m out again.

Tina Fey…<drool>

They’ve had some OK stuff. I think the skits of them as characters from Boston can be funny. I don’t really like the dorm room cam, and some of the other stuff (leather man? Yikes.) that they’ve done.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like they are cracking up more now than when they first started. It’s like they’re full of themselves and above it, so they don’t take it seriously.

I thought about starting a separate thread, but since some people here might know, is there some scarring on Tina Fey’s face? I can’t tell if I’m seeing things or if she has some faint lines near her mouth and cheek.

It’s a scar. It does NOT detract from her hotness, btw.

Chris Farley = no comic talent, no abilities at all other than being fat = Horatio Sanz. Seems pretty alike to me, minus the drugs (oh well).

I wasn’t suggesting that it detracted anything. I didn’t know if other people noticed it, or if I was just imagining it. I have some facial scars (she and I have something in common), and I think I take notice of stuff like that. Anyone know how she got them?

No comic talent = your opinion. A lot of people would disagree. Chris really played up the fat idiot bit, far too much for my liking. He ended up being his own worst enemy. What I enjoy about Horatio is that he isn’t as limited, he can play a wider variety. When I watch him in a sketch it isn’t always: oh there’s the fat guy. It’s: oh there’s goby the stoner, the teacher, gene shallit, ozzy osbourne, etc. He isn’t trapped in a design of his own making like Farley.

Obviously it’s my opinion. I was explaining why they are lumped together.

I always saw the fat idiot bit, as a way of Chris thumbing his nose. Remember the opening monologue where a piece of mail was read about how disgusting it was for the viewers to look at Chris’s disgusting body? The letter suggested they do a better job hiding Chris’s fat gut, etc. Chris responded by lifting up his shirt and grabbing his stomach with both hands, shaking it for the camera. I agree at times it became old, crashing into the furniture, etc. I think this is true for a lot of the cast members. I could go the rest of my life without watching Chevy fall down a flight of stairs, and still be tired of it.

As far as Jimmy and Horatio, I find them funny about half the time. That’s par for the course for me, concerning SNL - hit and miss. I don’t necessarily like the cracking themselves up for the camera, but I noticed Horatio’s done that since I’ve watched him. Laughing over a mustache that won’t stay on, can sometimes be the only part about a skit that comes off as funny. YMMV

I love the “Jared’s Room” sketches that they do. The one where Phish is on cracked me up. Dave and I will quite often say “Chuck Norris ran over me with his van” and it sends us both off the deep end.

Jimmy Fallon is a pretty fair guitar player, and a good impressionist. I think without him on, Horatio Sanz will blossom somewhat.

Since when is dolphin shit cool?

Tina Fey got the facial scar in childhood, but does not like to talk about how, saying the subject depresses her parents.

I’m guessing a forceps birth. I knew someone else who had a very similar scar, and that was the reason.
