So, just got done watching SNL

I noticed a couple of cast members wearing The Clash t-shirts during the closing, was this supposed to be a dig at Avril Levigne? Heh.
Worst Bryan Fellows skit yet. I liked the Joe Millionaire parodies, though, and the episode had two excellent mullets.

I turned it on near the end at the urging of an online friend to hear Avril Lavigne sing. She said she sounded horrible but when I turned it on, she didn’t sound much different than her single. Huh?

Also, the skit near the end (Funck?) was horrible. I wasn’t even paying attention to the TV but had to change it due to its sheer annoyance factor. Gah… I’m glad I watch this show mayb three or four times a year.

I’d be content to just watch Tina Fey sit there for an hour and a half. It’d be more interesting, that’s for sure.

Joe Strummer died recently, hence The Clash t-shirts.

I thought Avril Lavigne sounded fine. So many people told me she couldn’t sing at all and sucked mightly, but I didn’t think she was bad at all.

Avril definitely sounded flat during her first song. Also, I thought she played the guitar? Hmm.

More importantly, how about Jeff Gordon actually managing to not embarrass millions of NASCAR fans with his performance? I was impressed. (Yeah, I’m a NASCAR fan, so what?) Only twice did he seem to be obviously reading the cue cards.

Tina was the hottest that she’s been in a long time. If only they hadn’t done that eternity-long Jimmy Fallon Grammy joke.

Tina is always hot, non-believer.

Sadly I missed everthing before Weekend Update. The gay hitler wasn’t all that tasteful and the Aquarium skit was just sad… I wish I could’ve seen the “Joe Millionare” spoof, though.

ok, my points on the show tonight:

  1. Tina Fey is the most beautiful woman on earth, this week or any week.

  2. Avril sounded the same as she always does live. Her studio voice must’ve had some work done on it to make it sound less coarse.

  3. I don’t know what was more irritating, the Aquarium sketch or the Funck sketch. They were both really low LOWS for the show.

  4. Jeff Gordon wasn’t so bad…usually when sports figures host, they tend to be TERRIBLE. I kept forgetting that he’s probably never acted before.

ok, my points on the show tonight:

  1. Tina Fey is the most beautiful woman on earth, this week or any week. It’s too bad she’s too afraid to act, and gets condensed to 10 minutes a week.

  5. When I started seeing these Joe Millionaire commercials, I kept thinking “hmmm I wonder if anyone on the writing team reads SMDB.” I kept waiting for the “Joe HIV Negative” commercial.

  6. Brian Fellows was funny the first 10 times. Now it’s just getting frickin repetative. End it!

Avril Levigne was off key a lot, plus the songs are crap to begin with.

I agree that Tina Fey is hot.

Only thing that made me laugh was Fallon’s joke about Clint Eastwood’s daughter’s Playboy pictorial: Dirty, hairy.

You could tell Tina Fey wrote that one because she was clapping and laughing afterwards. She’s just darling, ain’t she?

To be fair to Avril and all the other musicians who sound like crap on SNL: apparently their sound system is lousy and it’s really hard for the singers to hear themselves. For singers who don’t naturally have perfect pitch, it often leads to flat or sharp performances. I guess this is what separates the men from the boys, or girls from the women in this case.

I actually liked the Funck skit. I don’t know what’s so funny about gay white trash, but I liked it.

I knew Strummer died but wasn’t that a few weeks ago?

Jesus. I hardly ever watch SNL, so someone really must tell me if the show is always this bad.

Granted, Jeff Gordon provided a bit of eye candy, but that in no way makes up for the atrocious skits that lasted approximately ninety years and featured funny jokes at the rate of none per minute.

Saturday Night Live has been a pale shadow of itself since Wil Ferrel left. I think there have been only two good episodes the whole season.

Avril has been touring hard. Of course her voice is tired.

the show sucked. i didnt need to tape it after all.

I love Will.

I only saw the Weekend Update segment and Drunk Girl doing Gary Busey, so I can’t comment on the show as a whole.

I just can’t let a “Tina Fey is hot” thread go by. She is. Intensely. And one day she will be my wife, so hands off.

I agree with your agreement. Loooove those glasses…

Every week I tune in, hoping against all hope that the show will be funny. It rarely is anymore. I’ve been watching since the beginning, and I think that SNL is quite wretched these days. As good-looking as Tina Fey is, she is the head writer and so must take the responsibility. Aside from a few scattered “hits” (the Chris Matthew Hardball parody is usually hysterical) the show is simply not funny.

I’ll bet she thinks she invented glasses, but she didn’t.

It was a pretty weak episode. I thought Jeff Gordon was downright terrible. I thought the weekend update was pretty funny along with the joe millionaire skits but other than that, crap.

I thought Avril sounded pretty decent considering she was live.

The funniest part of the episode is the end of the fishtank skit when Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz lost it and started to crack up.
