I usually just go to overzealous.com for my morning comics fix.
If you are talking about Newspaper comics, I find them stuck in a period about 20 years ago, except for an occasional one…
One which are worth it:
Dilbert
Were worth it:
Bloom County
Should be worth it (might be somewhere in US, never seen in UK papers):
Get Fuzzy
Luann
Ones which deserve to be in newspapers but never will:
Achewood
Wigu
Pooch Cafe and Pearls Before Swine are my two current favorites.
Must reads every day:
Pearls Before Swine
Get Fuzzy
Candorville
Sherman’s Lagoon
Blondie (hah! just seeing if you were paying attention…)
Bizarro
Lio
But yeah, most of them are crap nowadays.
Count my votes for Pearls Before Swine, Sherman’s Lagoon, Dilbert, and Get Fuzzy.
In fact, Get Fuzzy had me in stitches Sunday morning:
And then there was the Dilbert that epitomized my workplace so succintly that I thought seriously about putting a copy in the administrator’s mailbox (I thought better of it).
Bizzaro is funny. I clipped one out the other day to show to the stripper who turned me down when I asked her out:
Two guys are standing behind a woman sitting at a bar. One guy turns to the other and says “Go ahead, ask her out, what is the worse that can happen?”
What they don’t see is that the woman has a chain saw on her lap.
No…I like webcomics, though. Questionable Content, xkcd.com to a degree, and of course, Perry Bible Fellowship (will he EVER update, though?).
Not since Bloom County originally went on hiatus.
For web cartoons User Friendly was good for a couple years.
I have been wondering this for years. I used to like Calvin and Hobbes and Dilbert and Garfield. But all the others are all terrible. I cannot believe the strip- makers get paid for the rubbish they produce.
Often enough that I keep reading them, but I get why you are asking.
This side of the pond, there’s Beau Peep (still chucklesome) and George and Lynne on the other end of the scale; George and Lynne is the primary reason terrorists hate the west.
I still laugh at “Foxtrot” some times, although it is now only on Sundays. And also “Get Fuzzy”
I know. Because all the comedy moved to the front page!

Frazz, Get Fuzzy, and Brewster Rockit are pretty funny. Risha, I love the Fusco Brothers , but the L.A. Times doesn’t carry it.
There was a recent Prickly City cartoon that made me laugh. It’s only about once every six months that a cartoon is funny, and this instance was recent enough for me to remember. I dutifully read the cartoons, and just about every day I ask myself why.
Oh, lord, yes! “ABRA CADORKY! BUNGLE DUM WHOPPER FUNK! SPORK SPOOKY OLE!”
Both Get Fuzzy and Pearls Before Swine are real funny more often than not (especially when the imbecile crocodiles show up with yet another plot to murder their poor put-upon neighbor Zebra). They’re my favorites.
Lio nearly always gets at least a grin out of me, and Sherman’s Lagoon is sometimes a riot-- often enough that I read it whenever I get access to the daily paper, anyhow.
The Fusco Brothers is often worth a smirk or a snicker.
I read Luann because the continuing stories hold my interest and I actually like some of the characters.
The main reason I read ** Zits** is in the hope of seeing one of the parents finally haul off and belt that nasty damned smart-ass kid in the mouth real hard, and then do it again as many more times as it takes to teach the little bastard some manners and how to act like a human being.
The dinosaur strips all stink like the old mackerel they are, IMNAAHO.
And I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone finds For Better Or For Worst to be the least bit humorous, interesting, or even tolerable
Does anyone actually find newspaper cartoons, you know…funny?
How can you even ask? Didn’t you see Cathy yesterday? She went shopping to buy a dress. But she was too fat! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! (Courtesy of Alcatraz.)
(Or maybe that was last week. Or the week before.)
And Garfield. Didn’t you see? He’s a cat. And he likes to eat lasagna!!!
(Or maybe that was last week. Or last month. Or last year.)
Heretic! UF has always been awesome!
Personally, I don’t tend to read newspaper comics, since I don’t get a newspaper that has very many. Mostly I read webcomics:
Schlock Mercenary
User Friendly
Questionable Content
