Does anyone else always fast-forward past "Cheer up, Charlie"? [W.Wonka and the Chocolate Factory]

I do, I skip the entire scene from when Charlie enters. It is the worst part of the film imo. I usually don’t skip anything in movies.

What?

What the hell are you talking about?

from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

come on that’s a very famous movie

and if you don’t know what I’m talking about then the poll doesn’t apply to you anyway

It’s also a pretty simple three-word sentence. Though it does have the clues of the given name “Charlie,” and the OP saying it’s something that takes place in a movie. And that it was sad.

That’s a little cryptic, you have to admit.

It is cryptic but it is ok because if you don’t understand it, you haven’t seen the movie enough times to be able to answer the poll

…or you don’t recognize the reference well enough to say “oh, god, yeah, that song? I’d forgotten it until now—I hated that damn thing!”?

Even as a seven year old, I would cringe with embarrassment at that scene.

ok you win

I admit the topic title was too cryptic

never again will I be so thoughtless in naming my topics.

I’ve seen the movie a thousand times and still don’t recognize the line.

Ok so what do you call the song Charlie’s mom sings?

At first I thought the topic was about “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, but I see that “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” is on TBS later tonight, so it clicked.

Great movie, hokey song.

Look up, Charlie
You’ll see a star
Just follow it and keep your dreams in view
Pretty soon the sky is going to clear up
Charlie,
Cheer up Charlie, do
Cheer up Charlie
Just be glad you’re you.

I thought it was going to be about the Star-Kist commercials.

No, it’s not okay – in fact, the forum rules mention specifically that you should avoid cryptic titles.

I have edited the thread title to be more descriptive. I strongly encourage you to read the forum rules, conveniently located in a sticky at the top of the forum page.

Hey, all I’m saying is that things aren’t always that obvious to people without the same frame of reference—or some frame of reference. A good thread could lose out that way, and unnecessarily.

Oh yeah, I really hate that part of the movie. I’ve heard that people like it, but I always found it too slow and sad when I was a kid.

I like that movie a lot and always find it interesting to look up what happened to people in it(aside from Gene Wilder and Jack Albertson, of course).

So, that one was called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, right?
Yeah, PSXer really needs to review the rules/norms on the Dope.

Oops, sorry, right title now.

Hey guys I did read the rules why you gotta be accusing me. I didn’t intentionally make it cryptic. Obviously I thought it was clear enough, It’s not my fault that not everyone has seen Willy Wonka as many times as I have. No need to be giving me a dozen lashes over it

I knew what it meant. I usually go to the bathroom or get food at that point. My wife gets creeped out by the grandparents all sharing a bed.
