Does anyone else hate Andy Serkis as much as I do?

I have a question. Is this all really because he has ego? I’ve heard most good actors have very large egos.

Is this because he doesn’t sport a GQ model’s face? Well… who of us does?

Is this because he has limited range? That doesn’t mean that he can’t be a fine character actor. Wallace Beery is my cite.

Look… I feel like I’m judging someone I don’t know. Granted I don’t know many actors and the ones who I’ve seen walking on the street either look down with angry scowls on their faces or try to give out freely ‘The Stink Eye’ ( Yeah, Sam Elliott, that’s you. ) But what if this guy is one of the rare few with a decent personality IRL… someone you could BS with over appetizers and a cold beer on a fine afternoon?

As for pitting him sight-unseen… let’s just say… I have reasonable doubt.

Well, in that movie he IS playing a highly-theatrical choreographer, after all.

You do understand that this is an opinion and is not subject to factual proof, right?

Loved his chicken impersonation in that. But as noted, given that he’s playing a flamboyant showoff in the film it’s maybe not the best example of “not making it about him”.

A good point. That said, if I ever did meet him, I’d hate to have to look away because I trash-talked him in a way that I felt wasn’t truly fair. But that’s just me… and it’s more than likely that he wouldn’t care.

But some reasonable support would be nice. You’ve basically said that you don’t like his face. Nothing wrong with that but pretty weak sauce for hate.

Given, yes. It still bugs me for some reason.

O.k. It was too funny. Someone in the “Cozy” thread in Cafe Society said the Pie in the Sky series wasn’t too bad, so, I started watching some episodes today. And who do I see? Andy Serkis! A 30 yo Andy Serkis. And the ended up trapped in a chicken coop face-to-chicken-face with an aggressive bird. Made me laugh anyway.

So no, you don’t understand that

Is that your sight unseen? Or your presumption of mine?

Just because something’s an opinion, doesn’t mean it can’t be justified.

I am not here to judge either you or your opinions on art. Many say that my likes of art and film are the very worst form of heathen trash. Today, I mourn the loss of the end of a TV series “Better Things” which I’m sure that you would call cheap sentimental junk.

I admit that I am no film critic… and that nothing that i write would ever be received by any Academy of Awards with anything but contempt. I only know that I like what I like.
Not all the actors I admire are smirking GQ suit models. Not all the tv and film actresses that I think about pose covers on magazines. Perhaps I should be ashamed that i would think of any actress at all as beautiful ( whether the world does or doesn’t ) as I have never earned that right. If I’m very lucky… maybe they’ll never know.

No one on this earth should ever find out the hard way that one of their fans… is as ugly as sin.

But I’ll bet he never paid anybody to let him kick the shit out of them. Now, that’s creepy!

I guess we’re looking for assurances that this antipathy has some reasoned basis, and not just what the voices in your head tell you to do.

Although at this point, I’m really only left with the latter.

The irony is now I picture @lissener going, “We hates him, we do!” “No, Andy is a fine actor, with a wide range of talents.” back and forth.

Not my Serkis, not my monkey

@lissener doesn’t like Serkis because Serkis didn’t star in Showgirls

His man-boobs are that big…?

So, it seems the answer to the OP is “no, you are the premiere Andy Serkis hater.” Congratulations.
